Dell D600 - Advanced or Acer C303

I am going to college for Computer Engineering very soon and I was wondering which of these two notebooks I should pick. Dell has better parts (1.8 proc to 1.7, 1 gig RAM to 512 meg) But the Acer is a notebook/tablet. I'm not sure which will be more benefitial to my college experience. I know I need a demanding PC so I'm going toward the Dell but I think a tablet would be nice as well. Any thoughts?

If I had the money I would go for the tablet. The newer software lets you actually take notes on the screen and then translate it into text.

Dell is nice but from the proc, I think you are buying a Pent M and those are incrediblly fast, doesn't matter between a 1.7 and 1.8 if it is school.
