Has anyone tried stacking fans in parallel, like a 'Y'? 2 fans sucking air in air at the top and blowing it out the bottom. Would this produce better results then stacking the fans in series?

if you mean a Y shaped duct, 2 fans on the uper part, with one opening, you should double the CFM! surprised no on else thought of it! great idea!

You might not get exactly double the CFM, but you'd certainly get more air and it'd more faster too. Think about how air moves faster when forced through a smaller opening. Bernoulli's principle at work. :)

yup, it should be near to double thouh, a bit less due to friction losses

6 lbs of s..t, in a 5 lb bucket

no, very poor performance from 4 Nidec 7 in. 240 CFM fans in parallel
I wound up stacking them in 2 pairs
same results with 2 120mm Panaflos

look at the P-Q curve for your fan
unless it is HIGH speed, and thick bodied, it will NOT take much backpressure

stack 'em

be cool
