I thought my dear 'ol 2.6C was dieing, wrongo. I figured out that my Kingston Value Ram PC3200 is pretty much dead. It cant even handle stock speeds and forget about overclocking. I put my friends PC4000 (256 x 2) and my 2.6C overclocked to 3.5Ghz stable and then 3.6Ghz for benchmarking. I officially have the best 2.6C on the forums ;). My motherboard (P4C800 Dlx) isn't dieing either, the ram is been my problem for the last year.
RAM does occasionally go bad. Memtest86 is the best program to test RAM. You put it on a bootable floppy (or CD) and run it. If your RAM has errors at default speed, then it's bad. I like to test individual sticks. Usually only one of the two sticks will go bad. It's also possible that some RAM might just not be compatible with some systems, even if it's not physically defective.

Well, Im just relieved that my mobo / cpu isn't damaged. When I had the PC4000, I broke 13k on 3Dmark03 finally. I still might get another setup but Im not in a rush, just new ram.
good to hear that everything turn out good, I was using kingston hyperx when it went bad and gave me same results
Doesn't Kingston value ram have a lifetime warranty? It could save you a few bucks.

But, if I overclocked it, then I think it automatically voids my warrantly :(.

ram dosent fry at stock speeds
Umm yer wrong, there's a reason there's a warranty on that ram. I've had sticks that were run stock die on me. Real annoying. If you only up the volts say .1 or in the case of OCZ up to 3.0 then it won't affect the rams life. I also had some value ram that was bad at 3200 speeds and that was stock straight out of the box. It would run for about an hour and then both sticks gave errors.
Someone please tell me if I am wrong?

My ram lasted for about 10 months before I started noticeing it starting to crap out. I had these things unclocked a little bit (186mhz) instead of 200mhz rated. I coudn't overclock it in the first place to might as well get PC4000 right? lol

I had the same problem with my valurams a little while back. Got them new from ZZF. Right out of the box, 200mhz was a no-go. I ended running single stick with single channel and wayyyy underclocked until my new ram came. So disappointed and ZZF would not budge and give me a full refund.
RAM at default speeds and default voltage can go bad over time. After all, they are just another electronic component. I've seen it twice now, although one was about 2 years old and the other was more like 3 years old. But, it can happen.
Warranty should still apply as long as you didn't exceed the spec on voltage and/or overclocked it above the rated speed. If you are overclocking ANY component past spec, then you have voided the warranty in my opinion.

Very true, Im not going to send it back because dont they have a program that can see what voltages / Mhz it was at before you sent it back?
I'm confused. Did you have this ram overclocked or not? Your acting like they were, but you stated you had run these underclocked, I assume with a divider.

That's an interesting opinion, but I think that's a little too general. I fail to see how overclocking could void a HDD warranty if the motherboard has PCI locks. Overclocking does put more stress on the PSU, but as long as you don't open it up and adjust the rails that should be under warranty too.
Similary, I'm running my pc3200 ram at 192Mhz (240 with 5:4), with stock volts I don't feel I'm voiding that ram warranty at all.
Edit: I think I may have missunderstood that quote. Are you saying if ANY component is run out of spec, then that ONE component is voided. If so then I agree.

They were at stock as soon as I got em. Then, I noticed that ram starting to degrade, I had to keep it becauase Im out of money and cant pay for it. Now that I can afford new ram, etc etc. The ram was set @ 2.75V when the rated is 2.5V. The max I got the ram to overclock was 210Mhz but wasn't very stable :(.
