Yesterday I purchased an ABIT VP6 with 2 P3 800EB's. I have 2 golden orbs for cooling. However, without even overclocking, CPU tempertatures are 35C and 31 with no load, 44C and 38C with full load (using SETI continuously). I think these number are very high without even overclocking. When I tried 150Fsb x 6 for 900MHz , with full load temperaures go up to 48C and 42C and if I try harder by opening couple other softwares while SETI is running with 100% CPU usage, computer locks up. This is really annoying since I can't even put it up to 900 MHz. Does anyone have an idea on where the problem may be. Is it with the motherboard that CPU temps are high or with the CPU's. Thank you very much

Golden Orbs are not a good cooler. They work ok as a stock replacement but for overclocking get something better.

If you ask 10 people you will most likely get 10 different answers to that question. It all depends on how far you want to go, how much noise you can put up with, and of cource the funds. Check out Hardocp, Anandtec, and Toms Hardware. These sites all do comparisons between most of the coolers out there so you can see how they relate to one another. Then you will be in a better situation to choose based on your buget.
I still use an old Alpha Pal 6035 that I have had for several years on my P3 933 and it does very well. Other then that I use mostly water and custom stuff so I haven't bought any of the new coolers that are out there now.

I really like the Taisol with delta 38,
when it was tested "I can't remember where at" it was only 2nd to the swiftec by 2C. so for 35 each its not bad.
I would recomend some lapping before installing
