hi to all
i just got a new cel900ive got a asus cusl2c board
256m pc133 plus
128m pc133
if i run it at 131fsb at 1179 it runs ok
if i run it at 132 fsb at 1188 it boots ok but i sometimes get memory dumps which i used to get with my old cel 600@900 when i tried to run it at 1008 mhz
if i try run the 900 chip at 133fsb at 1197mhz it reboots back at default settin which is a 600e chip
i am runnin cheap ram would that be the reason y i get memory dumps or i can boot at 132 but not at 133 fsb
or have i just reached the limit of the chip
temperatures are ok
thanks
Try raising the cpu voltage yet?
It will probably help but make sure your temps are good before you do and stay good after.

yes
i tried all the way up to 2.05v for a short time
still did same thing
seams it just doesnt like that extra step
If you think its the memory try with just the 128 or 256.
Also read thru this thread it might help you.

Or bump up the voltage from 3.3v to 3.4v
That may be just what it needs.

what kind of cooler do you have? something like a SK6 should do the trick nicely. brings your temps way down :-)
I'm running a 850 Celeron at 1113 right now. full load is 35C using default VCore. gonna try 1133 today.
I just did one of these last night. I had the exact same problem, then I realized I was running cas3 memory at cas2 (naughty Pinky).
Once i set the memory to cas3 and all the timing to Turbo (from the 10ns default), I got this high with 99% stability (I apologise in advance for smearing this everywhere, but this IS Oc'ers.com right?):

I don't know how the PEP performs, but with a 7000rpm fan it should be good.
I'm running a 850 @ 1147 right now with a SK6 and a 7000rpm fan.
very noisy, but gonna try the silicon trick today.
i've got a 900 myself, it also run at 131 bus speed stable with 1.95 volt core but i can't run it at 133 (my system will not boot) it's probably due to a bios problem but the system is too fast!
my mobo is a DFI CS65-EC (it's a great mobo) i have 256+128 mb of cas3 pc133 sdram.
i am using an alpha pal 6035 with an 80x80 fan ( i am using a converter) because that original is too louddy. the temps are 45 c when palying MAX PAYNE the room temp is 34 c!(yes it's summer)
so it seems that we both are having the same problems at the same FSb.
so any help?
:D bye

hey
nice to hear u got yrs to 133 fsb
mine doesnt post at 133 or more
pretty sure its the low cold boot voltage prob on my asus cusl2c
so ill burn it in for a week or so then do the wire trick to get the cold boot voltage to 1.95 then go from there

I asked this question in the memory section, but have yet to get an answer. What does setting the memory to "turbo" do and how does it compare with setting it to 8ns?

I must have missed the other question.
Of course, I haven't a clue, I would imagine it sets it to read as fast as it can... I get the best scores set to this, even tried 8 and 10ns with poorer results.
Placid might have the more technical answer for you. I tweak and learn about settings, but know very little about a few of the settings other than they work... this is one of those settings :).

hey tuk
the wire trick is where u wrap a very fine strand of wire round certain pins on the cpu to give it a hard set higher voltage
its cause the asus cusl2c cold boots at 1.65 v i think
then after bios boots up it switches to preset voltage in bois
http://www.asusboards.com/vbulletin/
that place has info on it but unless u know what yr doin u could easily fuk a chip up
i have done it succesfully on my cel600@900

I had mine done last weekend by my dad who does a great job on wire wrapping :-)
Now my Celeron 850 boot's default at 1.85V
it's now running at 1173 and very nice temps using the SK6 with a Delta38 modded with solicon :-)
