Got it to post at 240 FSB at a 1:1 but it wouldn't boot to windows, knocked it down to 235 and got a BSOD with what looked like encryption. Got it into windows at 230 but it was ugly, only a little better at 225. Vdimm was 2.8.

Like a rock at 220 but that wasn't enough so I changed to a 5:4 and it's at 3007.65 - 251FSB right now, folding @ 40C.

I hit it with P95, Sandra , 3dmark03, SP Desert Combat Max bots Max CPU to AI all while still folding and it's stable. I can't get the temp over 44C either even with the tornado at 2500 RPMs under full load. I've tried MBM5 and winbond seperately but they both read the same, even the BIOS temps aren't far off so it must be close. I guess the SP-94 lives up to it's reputation.

Anyways back on topic. I'm sure it'll go at least another 200Mhz and I'm thinking maybe closer to 3.4Ghz is where it'll stop doing what I want it to. Not too bad for my first OC I think.

Any of you veteran OCers see anything questionable about what I've done let me know please, or any suggestions. I think I'm going to get myself some faster RAM so I can get to 3Ghz at a 1:1, even though the divider doesn't seem to have that much effect on my game's performance.

Thanks to the OC forums for making this possible, and finally giving me the courage to step over that line. I'm a big sissy when it comes to OCing :p

Looking good so far. I've had two 2.4C CPUs (still have one). First one was was bought April of 2003 (so it was one of the first out), it did 3.3 gig stable. This current one does a little over 3.5 gig stable as a rock. So, I know yours will go a little higher for sure.

Your early failures were due to RAM being to far out of spec, which you figured out. So, looks like your RAM will do 220 frequency which ain't bad for PC3200. That suggests that with the 5:4 ratio, your RAM should be good for close to 3.3 gig or 275 FSB.

You will probably need a bump in vcore to go that high though. Make sure the AGP/PCI is locked & the last two GAT settings are disabled. O/C a little at a time. Check temps and test for stability like you've been doing. Good luck.

2.4c's are fun. :D

mine runs at my sig day to day. in the winter, i drop my ratio to 3:2 and run 300fsb, ram at spec'd 200mhz, gives me 3.6ghz on the cpu at 1.65v, 1.6 under load.

PC3200 is good at 220 frequency? Mine PC2700 does 260MHz (DDR 520) with 2.5V and 3-4-4-5.

Zebbo, your PC2700 is an exception and is more than good... it's excellent.

Lots of PC3200 RAM won't do 220 FSB. It definitely pays to do some research.

if it does 260mhz why are you running it at 200? why not 250 1:1??

hmmmmm

I would have to ask that same question also. My PC3200 (3 years old now) runs at 217-220mhz running 2.5-3-3-7 timings @ 2.8volts. It doesn't seem to want to go any higher then that even with slower timings.

Overall yes change your divider and you should beable to push more out of the chip.

My 2.4c hasn't disappointed me yet.
