My local store begins selling the Athlon4 1.53GHz CPU on the 17th officially.
So that means, AMD will drop the bomb everywhere on this date too? Also, I must mention that the 1.6GHz Athlon4 will be onsale three weeks after this initial release.
I'm gonna guess, 1.73GHz will hit us November.

hmm,
be sure to check out http://www.viahardware.com/faq/kg7kr7/kg7kr7faq.htm
ok, the only real thing I can think of is that 'your' processor isnt compatible with your board. I dunno why but every CPU is different.
what I would do is send the cpu in on warrenty and AMD will send u a newer updated core that will work for u, I promise youll get a good one the next time.
hey atomic, do you have any idea on how much the 1.53s will cost?

Expensive, with a new name comes a hike in cost, but it wont be too expensive like Intel is charging. Expect the price to be the same as a 1.8GHz P4 or less.

The AMD Athlon4 processor...

sweet I'll have to save up
That chip looks mighty tiny. I was hoping AMD would build these chips using a larger heat dissipation core, like the P4. Makes for much easier cooling.
Any idea what low power AMD PowerNow tech is?
Or is this a different Athlon 4 than in the amd roadmap?
I'm pretty sure that it is the mobile chip. Where the chip runs at slower clock speed when it is not necessary to run full load to save on the battery.

Palomino core is compatible with 8K7A, but the 1Ghz version does not work. The 1.2Ghz parts and above work okay. There is a little glitch in them at the moment though which makes them unstable at high FSB's - hence mine only being at 161Mhz rather than 184Mhz!!!!!
Remember guys that Palomino will debut at 1.4Ghz, not 1.6Ghz as stated at the top of this article.
will the palominos o/c way better than the tbirds? i heard lower voltage = lower temps = better overclock. do you think it will be worth spending $200 for a 1.53 palomino instead of a $110 on a 1.4 tbird?

I wouldn't throw myself on one the second it comes out (anyway, I don't have enough $$$ to buy it right now !). I would wait a few month, or at least a few weeks before going for one (prices should drop as new models appear).
But this is only my 2 cents, so ...
i am waiting for a nForce board first

All I can say is the PC ads at christmas are going to be very interesting this year ! Geeez don't seem that long ago a 200 mhz machine was the exception.

I'm waiting for the quantum chip or the molecular chip, which ever comes first. I heard them babies don't generate any heat.
