Hey i just got my gaming pc after months of buying parts seperate.. now i'm having problem running doom 3 even on the lowest setting. also my 3dmarks2001 score is only 7300 and i kow it can go higher then that. her are my specs
Motherboard- Abit IC7-Max3 just flashed the bios version 17
CPU- Intel Pentium 3.0G presscott
Ram- Kingstion 256MB pc3200 400mhz and Generic brand 256MB pc3200 400mhz total of 512MB
Video Card- Invidia Fx5200 128MB
Hard Drive- 120g Western digital
Cooling- Stocked cooling on the CPU ...2 80mm exhaust fans on the rear and 1 80mm pushing in on the side panel
I'm thinking its the Stocked cooling on the cpu .. my temp are to high at 50c or its the generic Ram..i'm buying new heatsink and more ram this week. let me know whats up i want to clock this sucker ASAP.

looks like your biggest bottleneck at the moment is your video card. fx5200 is kinda skimpy for doom3. and did you install service pack 2? cause that's killer...
I think that card could to 10k or so at most.

Well what Video Card do u suggests? i need something with duel monitor capability.. Also $200 and under would be nice :)
This 9800 Pro is a great card, and comes with a good chance of being able to flash to an XT. All for $200.00 ish

For 200 under just get a 9800 pro. Or if you can wait, get the 6600GT or X700XT. For 80 bucks more the evga 6800 NU is a good choice.

Also get pair of 2x512mb ram if you can. Lots of new games like 1 gig or above for RAM.

Definitely your video card. A 9800 Pro (especially one that can be flashed to an XT) will be a big improvement, but in my opinion it's a bad investment. You'll be buying the top end of dated technology.
I think you'd be better off spending the money on a regular Geforce 6800. You're still under 300$, and you should see massive performance gains.

Depends how much u want to overclock. A minor overclock the stock heatsink with as5 would do. However since you have a prescott investing in a XP-90 or Xp-120 wouldn't be a bad idea.

For now i'll try the as5 with the stock heatsink... i just don't want it running at 50c when its idle.. i guess my main part to buy this weekend is a new powerful video card. Thanx for ur help guys. can't wait to start playing doom 3 in high quality
Video Card- Invidia Fx5200 128MB.
This card is no good mate, a few even have 64bit memory by your 2001 score i guess this maybe be the case.
Im shure if you shop around you might get a 9800xt with 256mb ram and 256bit for just a little more then 9800pro 128mb.
Motherboard- Abit IC7-Max3 just flashed the bios version 17, this is the mobo im getting after in a few months i def getting this mobo!
CPU- Intel Pentium 3.0G presscott- do you mean 3.0e?
With that mobo and cpu i and a good psu thers great overclocking potential.
