View Full Version : Windows won't boot!!!
My wife has a Dell 600m notebook with windows XP and SP2 and she was playing music thru media player and all of a sudden the send error report windwow comes up and says that explorer can longer stay open and must close and would you like to send an error report. she put no and the thing shut off. so when she tried to boot the windows loading screen appears and then it goes black and stays there. so i tried running it in safe mode and the same thing. so then i inserted the Windows XP Cd to run a repair and when i select the HD of choice it freezes up and nothing. i was doing this because the MBR might be corrupt but i cant repair it since the damn thing freezes. any suggestions? :temper:

If you're concerned that the MBR may be corrupt, and you can't access the Recovery Console to run the fixboot and/or fixmbr commands...try booting with a Win98/Me bootdisk, and at the prompt type fdisk /mbr.
i dont have a 98 disk or me. any other suggestions?
