Ok, I was satisfied with my Leadtek 5900XT until now. I got the urge to flash it to a 5950 Ultra. I used Leadtek's BIOS, since its a Leadtek card. It worked... For DOS and Windows Safe Mode. Once I reloaded the driver, Windows got artifacts all over, the monitor would lose the signal, get it, lose it, get it... It just plain didn't work. I want a new card now! Too bad I can't afford one that would be a significant upgrade. :bang head

looks like you have a heat problem with your card. The stock HSF probably can't keep it cool, so you have all those artifacts. The artifacts you mention... are they white dots, or blocks....?

If they are white dots, the core is too hot. If they are blocks, it's your vid mem that is too hot.

It is back to stock. It really wan't block or white dots. The screen was full of multi-colored dots, usually red, orange, or yellow, but only after the driver was loaded. In safe mode it looked fine, and so did DOS. Regular Windows did too until it detected the display adapter was a 5950 Ultra. I am almost tempted to get a NV Silencer, but I don't know if I want to sink any money into this card. I'd rather just save up for something like a 6800GT at some point. Or maybe I can sell it and get a 9800 Pro, 5900 Ultra, or 5950 Ultra for hardly anything more.
