Just wondering what one can expect with the BFG 6800nu. I luckd outand got one for a really decent price off ebay $210 shipped.

What I am curious of is whether there is a chance to unlock the other 4 pipes. I am brand new to nvidia and wanted to know as I saw some posts talking about this.

Is it a crapshoot based on the card one gets? What is the first step to d/l riva tuner and see if these hidden pipes can bue unlocked. What I do not know is the type of heatsink my card will come with, whether it will be the dual fan version or one of the first versions that is single fan and a smaller sink from what I understand by posts i have read. The link I was given tends to look as though I may have got one of the first versions, I was really hoping for the newer one but may be I will get lucky

Regarding the piipes, well its about 2% chance you will be able to unlock it based on the RivaTuner forums.
Anyhow, its a great value card.

Yea, I have yet to see anyone on this forum unlock one. I have a chaintech and it is not unlockable. It is however an awsome card. It is better than my former 9800XT and plays everything my GT does just generally 1 resolution setting lower. My GT will play FarCry at 1280x1024 and my NU does it but at 1024x760. All in all its a spectacular card and although the 6600GT is very good the 6800NU clearly bests it across the board and fits a sweet price point. If I didnt get crazy clocks with my current GT I would sell it and stick with the NU.

It looks like only the 6800LE's are unlockable and that only gets you to 12/5pipe's and shaders. LE's are 8/4 Pipe's and shaders. My 6800nu can OC like a big dog but i cant unlock it either eVGA 6800.I was gonna step up but im happy with this card.So i dont think im gonna step up to a GT.Since.I wanna build a totally new system in the next 6 month's Anyway.
