In order to help me in figuring out if my cpu temp sensor is faulty, i would like to know some of your idle motherboard and cpu temperatures.

Thank you very much!

Mine:
Mobo: 28c
CPU : Supposedly 50c

these are idle temps......
As you can see, my 50c compared to 28c seems a little strange

What program are you using to monitor your temps? Some tend to read a little off. Using Hmonitor Pro, I am reading 35C on my cpu, mobo 31C on my rig. for info on it, check my sig.

Both Hardware Sensors Monitor and SiSoft Sandra read the same temp......thanks

My mobo temp is 33C, while idle the CPU is 37C under load it goes to 40C - 41C.
The CPU temp you have is to high... but have you OCed it? What Vcore are you running? What kinda cooling do you have?

Its not oc'd

Its a regular tbird 1ghz....

Case cooling is next to nil, and i have an orb on the cpu.

oh yeah...vcore is 1.75v

you're running with an ORB? thats you're problem then. :D Seriously thou... you should get better cooling then an ORB. they kinda sux. Allso... are you using thermal paste?

Yes....i dont know the exact type though...its blue in color though :P.

so you think i should change my cpu cooler and introduce better case cooling?

i honostly think my cpu temp sensor is faulty.....

immediatly after boot, after the box has been turned off all night, it jumps to 50c

when i had a damned box fan blowing into the case, the lowest temp i had for cpu was 41c

There is most likely nothing wrong with your temp sensor. TBirds will heat up like that. In fact, if you turn the comp on without a hsf, you have about 3 seconds to turn it off before you have a nice keychain! I concur with oneiron. Get a Thermalright SK6. Or a Glaciator. The SK6 I believe is the best though, IMHO.

ok...thanks a lot for the suggestions!

ill order that cooler and a couple of fans.

The new heat sink and fans should help out quite a bit. Atleast they did when I changed to a good one.

Very good temps dude, this is the first step to high mhz. So what can your chip do?

No, I don't think there is anything wrong with your temp sensor.

I the ORB is to blame. Get rid of as fast as you can! :)

How can I get temps from SiSoft Sandra? I have looked over it and can't find the program for temp readings. I would like to compare them to my ASUS Probe readings.

1GHz Athlon @1.13
Running 150FSB on PC100 memory somehow:)

MOBO: 27

CPU:
Idle: 48
Load: 54

In CPU and Bios information. You need to scroll down a little.

Well I checked and it isn't there:( I am only using the shareware version so maybe it isn't in that one?

You should try the this one, I'm sure you can see the temp in that version: http://www.tweakfiles.com/allinone/sisoftsandra.html
