Nasa has released a comprehensive world viewing tool that allows you to zoom from planetary resolution down to where you can pick out individual streets. Really cool, but it needs a good internet connection and a decent graphics card. There's all sorts of interesting features, such as the ability to tilt your view for a flight-sim like experience and a data display feature that shows current natural disasters, political boundaries, weather patterns, and landmarks on the Earth's surface, all while providing a dynamic satellite's eye view of the planet."
Torrents findable here

Is there a way to actually see houses and stuff on this? I cant get it to zoom in and have clarity.

Yea, it's terribly slow ATM ... the server(s) where the program gets the data from that is.
Just leave it running (zoomed in somewhere) and check back once in a while.
After ~ 1 hour I noticed it finally retrieved my home area. Pretty cool, although for non-US areas (thus landcat7) the detail isn't high enough to distinguish houses - more like streets at mosts (the black blur next to the green blur is my street next to the park for example), but enough to find out what is what if you are familiar with a certain area :) .
For some reason the program tends to use a lot of memory all of a sudden. At first 45 mb, and when I checked back 10 minutes later Windows was complaining about not having enough virtual memory (so was using more than 1.5 GB at that moment!).
Can't test this GIS viewer (school computer), but for house level resolution in the US, I use TerraServer. For example, my house is one of the ones in the loop in this picture (http://terraserver.microsoft.com/image.aspx?t=1&s=10&x=2509&y=24889&z=10&w=1) :D
When I get a computer I can try this on, I'll download it. Sounds very interesting! :)

Well the Landsat7 server is down, only one that works is the USGS 1 meter.
Anyone know which one is higher resolution? Landsat7 or the usgs?
