View Full Version : DDR2 question
Does DDR2 work the same was as DDR?
Meaning PC3200=400mhz/200mhz per channel
and making it sychronis with a 800mhz fsb
There is no advantage having DDR2 over the FSB of the processor correct?

same basic design but with alot of improvements in modulation to allow it to go much higher frequencies in the future. right now in my opinion the cost is too much and doesnt give much improvement if any over current ddr1. that will change as the speeds get much higher in the future

basically it is a serial ddr. So you have two lanes of ddr memory. Not quite qdr but same basic idea. But ya, if it is at same frequency it has no benefit.
well with that being said won't the FSB of processors have to increase for thier higher frequencies to benifit any?

Uh huh...but thats why we overclock :)
Yea but DDR1 right now exceeds the FSB frequencies we can reach
