Ive played A LOT of games in search for a fun addicting game like the old days when i used to get stuck on age of empires, starcraft, zelda for DAYS because they were actually FUN. I have xbox, gc, ps2, Dreamcast, and of course PC. I have bought every game that looks fun, because of sites rating them 9/10, and hearing people's experiences. How can people like CS? i played it for like 3 days and i hated it cuz of the hackers, the BAD graphics, and the retarded weapons. I was hooked on Desert Combat for about 2 weeks, but its so unbalanced, and the spawn killing sucks. BFVietnam sucks too, Sims 2 is just plain boring. I used to play FS2004 and in fact upgraded my system just to play it, and now that i can play it at decent speed and gfx, i even got the sidewinder 2, i just god bored of it cuz u cant really organize a flight of 10 people in MP mode, they just use the SLEW mode and cheat or w/e... The first unreal was fun, but now the new ones are just too unrealistic. For xbox ive got games like Fable, Full Spectrum Warrior, MK5, DOA, Fifa, Halo. Im not into ONE genre, ill try anything that could have a chance of being fun. The ONLY fun game for xbox is HALO online using xbconnect, because theres 0 chance of cheating, everyone has the same setup, and its got the gfx and half/way realism to make a game that will actually keep me entertained for some hours a week, but it does get boring if you play for too long in a day. For GC ive got many games and the only one I like is super smash bros MP mode with 4 people, but it did get gay in about a week. For PS2, GTA and Vice City kept me entertained for the longest a game has kept me hooked in the last 3 years, i actually beat this game and it was still fun roaming around until i found every single secret it got boring cuz of no MP too. Ive played Farcry, Doom3, DC, CS, BF, BFV, UT2k4, Americas Army etc... etc... etc... about every High Rated game thats supposed to be fun, and i didnt play 1 of them for more than 2 weeks. Another game i liked is WORMS WORLD PARTY online with the modified online games. Lastly i cant leave risk 2 which kills any of those 3d games which are supposed to be fun.

Maybe you need a break from gaming for awhile so when you come back to it, you will enjoy it more.

Could be... Thanks for your input.

Age is a factor too. Your priorities and thinking changes as you get older. Gaming used to be the main reason I'm into computers. Now however I like tinkering with the hardware more. Going out to clubs/bars and what not with friends and stuff like that takes priority over gaming these days.

Not to worry, the exact thing happened to me. I played GR for the better part of 2 years (played everyday), and then about 8 months back i lost interest in it and have not been able to find another game that was so addictive. Well ateast not untill i started playing Eve Online last week. :attn:
I have not been so addicted to a game since GR.

Maybe you just have not found the right game, but hang it there and one will come along soon.

I'm feeling the same way now.
I used to play games constantly, and now even though I really enjoy D3, FarCry etc.

I don't feel like I really want to play them.

i tried playing halo over xbconnect friday night. i never played halo online and never will again. if you thought the smack talking in cs was bad these f'ing moron kids will get you pissed off very quick. if someone were to act like that in front of me in person they'd have a problem.

i agree games don't get under my skin like they used to... the only game i look forward to is wow... and maybe eq2 ob.

Agreed WOW has got my hopes up alot. Lineage 2 was fun for about 5 months but then the stupid chinese farmers....Argg!! but the most hooked game i have ever played was Diablo 2 Exp played it for about 2 years straight even missed school and pretended to be sick to play that game lol, had 2 account's all lvl 95+ pretty much never died in pvp.

That's the problem: they're kids. If any of them actually talked like that to me in real life, I'd pro'lly be seeing if they fit into a Wendy's Biggie-size cup . . .

One of the few games that has kept me thoroughly enthralled is Diablo II and Lord of Destruction. I don't know why, but it's just terribly addicting. I don't play much on the battle.net, but I do play w/ friends every now and then. We just set up a server and play all night. It's great fun.

lol I got fed up w/ those punks on xbconnect a while back. It really burns me up when you've got a good game going, and you start pwning somebody, and then they just leave, forcing you to restart everything, wait around for more ppl to join your game. (The only decent way to play on that, I've found, is to host games).

And actually, I have heard that you can cheat over xbconnect. You can apply .ppf files to your maps to give you an advantage. ppl do stuff like that to teleport outside maps, or hide extra powerups and rocket launchers next to their base.

Its not just you man, I've been feeling it too. I havent been able to find a game that can keep my attention for more than 20 mins for a long time.

I hope WoW really kicks ass, same with Hl2 ,because for me gaming is starting to die :-(

Same.

Aside from the occasional half-hour of Day of Defeat, I haven't been gaming nearly as much as I used to. I think HL2 and WoW will change that though.

Try doing something else like working on motercylces or bikes or cars. It could be you are just bored with games in general and not one game or any game is going to do it for you.

Or set up some lans at your house and have your pals come over. That way you can socialise with your friends, play games, and smack talk with out typeing or a headset! MEGA FUN, thats the way I like to pay games but I haven't had the time to go to my friends lan recently.....

You can't cheat on xbconnect, trust me i've tried it, the hacked maps only work when ur playing in ur xbox, when u play over the internet the game goes out of sync because the other party doesnt have that map... Ive tried it ;), plus, besides u can only do the hacked maps with a modded xbox ;).

Anyways, halo on xbc IS somewhat fun, but it got old for me tho... I played it too much...

About the "work on motorcycles", yeh i built my own GO-PED from parts, goes 35mph, and i built and learned to fly a remote control airplane which is a blast till u crash it, thats why i havent flown it in a while...

"Farcry, Doom3, DC, CS, BF, BFV, UT2k4"

lol you call that every game supposed to be fun? haha i'm sorry sir, but the only game on that list worth playing is cs. and YES i've played everything on that list execpt dc, which i don't even know what it is... play cs for the social factor, since it IS the most played multi game on the planet right now. it is very newb-unfriendly, so you better expect to spend quite a bit of time on it before you can start fraggin even 1-1. as for the rest: farcry - boring, doom 3 - even boringer then farcry, bf - so so (gets repetitive and frustrating), bfv (see bf), ut2k4 - plain sux, no teamwork, no gun play, only vehicle.

sims 2 is pretty fun, for a short short while. heck, i got bored of it after 2 days. halo sux, fs sux, and all the other console game you listed sux. yes, i hate zelda, halo, and super smash bros.

in many ways i'm like you... a good game only comes once in a blue moon..

- oh yeah, btw, i doubt you have tried the hentai genre yet...

wow and i thought i was the only one.... i used to play americas army every day now i say to myself im gonna play it start the game... get in a server.. leave within 5mins... same happens to any other game, all that hype about doom3, played it for like 2-3days got to like 2-3rd level and uninstalled it. im losing interest in games, like the one guy said above going out with friends and stuff is priority, i dont spend half the time i used to beside the pc now, in one way thats actually good, it aint healthy for u to sit on it. ill go outside and throw the football around or ill go somewhere and do something... Which reminds me im out laters ..

If your bored load up some of your old games and look for some mods you havn't played for them yet. I recommend gloom for Q2 even tho theirs only 1 decent server that plays it any more, although it almost always has 10+ people in it. Seriusly you havn't had fun till your a spider the size of your hand going around ripping peoples heads off at 30 MPH.

I think a way to get back into gaming is to pick up an old favourite and try it again.

I've been playing Ocarina of Time on my GC, and it grabbed me again, just like it did when I got it on my N64.

Try an older game that you haven't played in a while. :)

Well i still love BF1942 that game has always kept me buisy, altho i do have the same fealing as most of you do games are getting boring you play them for a few days and ur done.. Sigh.

Heck alot of older gamesi have are actually more fun then the newer ones. Anyone ever played a game by Sierra called Alien Legacy its an old DOS game still fun as heck. Its also prob due to age to cuss when i was younger i used to play games more often then i do now, for some reason i dunno i just cant get myself to play anything. I sit thier for like an hour looking through all my games wanting to play something but then once i start playing one im like blah.

Also all the Graphical games like Ut2k4 Doom3 Farcry and a bunch of others im so used to the good graphics, that when i play calssic games i played 24/7 like Residentevil (i have them all cept for GC) im like blah about to puke cuss im so used to the newer graphics.

May i make a suggestion, Try playing RTS games. Thier all Adictive and FPS games get boring fast. A game that actually kept my acupied for a loong time was Hegemonia Legons Of Iron, its a 2 year old game now but has DX8 graphics really good and its very fun, Hard to learn in the beggining but after youreu sed to it its addicting. To bad my 6800GT wont let me play it.

I'm out sick today (damn colds), think i'll pick OoT back up. Last time I really played it was back in 98 when it first came out. Great memories, just gotten done with our 2 week winter vacation from school when a blizzard comes and shuts it down for another two weeks. :attn:

The only things to get me back to gaming is mmorpg's i love just leveling getting items and exp and trying to be the best on that server and doing pvp..and when i start learning more and more i jus start creating new characters in the hope of maybe this one could be the best. Lineage 2 was fun for me for a long time. I was lvl 22 and i was pvp'ing so much i was a dark elf dagger user...oh...the great old times.

Yes, i thought i mentioned i had fable too... Not THAT great, but since you can be bad and good, and you get better and better and grow up, i do like it somehow...

Zelda 1 and 2 were the only games out of like 10 that ive even bothered to beat, great times... ;(

What about America's Army? Thats the most realistic First-Person-Shooter in existence, because it was created BY the army for training / recruitment tool. They force everyone to use Punkbuster and thus no one is able to hack. You should give it a try (its also free)

LINK (www.americasarmy.com)

Grafix are pretty damn good too!

Heh, yes i think i also said i have played americas army... Americas army is pretty realistic, and it was fun until unfortunately i found the aimbots that bypass punkbuster, and i tried them and 1. it made it more boring with the aimbot 2. without the aimbot you know everyone else is using it, so its not worth playing...

Wait, Ocarina of Time is on game cube? Is it the same thing as the N64 version?

Yep, it was part of a Collector's Edition that was released around Christmas last year. That's when I got mine.

You could also get it by registering 5 different Nintendo games or systems on Nintendo's website.

It's the exact same on the GC as it was on the N64, except they changed Z targeting to L targeting. It's the same otherwise.

Popularity has made the video game experiance worse.

I believe this is very true. Games nowadays have a tendancy to get overhyped (Doom III is a prime example of this) and it therefore doesn't live up to everybody's expectations.

A good thing to keep the gaming fun alive is a good group of gamers to play them with. I found a group of people from SWG, about 10 of us, and we hang on ventrilo daily, and it makes the gaming expierience alot more fun, having poeple to share it with and joke around with on an out of game level.

what, nooooo come on just sit down and start playing with yourself, its alot of fun man. Alot better than having someone around to watch you blow your load on a cargo escort mission through tatoine. Friendly fire sucks when you can't aim....

I'm really liking fable and I play alot of old school rpg's... get an snes emulator and som good rpgs (if you own the cartige). Or buy the real thing if you can find one, you won't be sorry. Some of it can get pricey but even if you can come across a non working cartrige you can legal download the rom, because you could make the rom yourself if you wanted to. They have little bateries that run out after a while so its kinda hit or miss, I'd much rather play it on the tv but what ever it takes to get the oldschool goodness of the FF series lol :). But still check the laws where you are because these things tend to change from area to area or day to day so you never know if your breaking the law. And you don't want the authorities knocking at your door now do you :p.

I got burned out on gaming too. Last year I spent hudreds of dollars on games, just trying to find something that is fun. Nothing really kept me interested, Rise of Nations came close, but that got boring after awhile too. So now, I am getting back into dirt bike riding. I quit riding about 4 years ago since I was worried about getting hurt and after getting two shoulder surgeries in the past year which was caused by my job I am thinking that I need to get back out and be active again. I know, a funny way to think things through, but being told to do nothing for the past year and a half so that I could give my shoulder a chance to heal has got me wanting to do something other than sit on my arse.

A change can be as good as a rest. Last night I played Atari 2600's Jr. Pac Man using the Stella 1.1.2 emulator on my PC. It was good retro fun, and made me appreciate today's games more as well.

I played rome total war for all of yesterday and today since thx to the hurricane i dont have school for this whole week, yet i was only without power for about 10 hrs during the hurricane. Anyways, i was gona post this game was pretty fun and i would recommend it, but right now i just got sick of it because i got like 25 out of the 50 towns u have to take over to then be emperor, and it just gets boring cuz its all the same except every turn (half a year)(there are about 550 turns) u have to take care of more and more towns individually and the game doesnt change much for the whole game, the armies just get bigger but so do theirs, and good luck taking over the pharaoh's empire...

I get bored with most games but sometimes i just get frustrated but i never just quit playing. My favorite is Desert Combat the 1942 mod because i love flying the helicopters or doing spec ops and being stealthy and owning. DC really gave gamers an opportunity to excel at a vehicle that didnt drive itself, ie the helicopter, and when u learn how to use it it is an amazing tool. I have played americas army great game, far cry didnt like so much, bf v almost decent, ET was addicted to for a long time. U people sound so uninterested in the gaming aspect of gaming, talking about cheats and BS like that. if u r bored w/ a game stop playing, DONT CHEAT TO MAKE IT FUN, cause it isnt and it ruins the game for everyone else. I have never noticed very many cheaters in any game, maybe the people u think are cheating are just good at the game, and u are too lazy or disinterested at becoming good so u call everyone a cheater.

yeah and playing w/ people u know is great fun, or just getting to know the community of the game ur playing makes it funner, because then u know the people u are playing with. online gaming hasnt changed that much there are just more people

oh yeah and get some other hobbies, other than gaming, i play cards, mountain bike, smoke weed  , play the guitar, and photoshop, and i get A's in school

I have been the same way as well by having trouble finding a game that will catch my attension. However, I have found one by the demo that I am particulaly fond of Max Payne 2. I am awaiting Half life 2 (through the promotion offer) so I can get some good use out of my new athlon 64 system. I get hooked more on the good old games like the Final Fantasy Series (VII, VIII, X) and such. Some fo the custom games on warcraft III interest me, I hate the ones that take 10 damn hours of your day though (DOTA).

I used to be on like 24/7 with counter strike and starcraft with one of my good friends. He is gone now  , have not seen him in like 3 years.

Oh well. Look what's right around teh corner. HALO2 on LIVE!!!

My problem with games is that I have too many games to play. LOL. By far the most fun is Halo syslinked with a bunch of buddies.

BTW there is a mouse/keyboard adaptor for the xbox now. Prolly get a lot more people on board. Kinda creating a controversy though with people that think the mouse/keyboard should be kept to pc gaming and not console. I'm kinda with them on that. Learning how to use the controller is part of learning to be better. Now somebody with pc gaming skills can jump on an xbox and feel right at home in a matter of seconds and be up to par with people that have taken a lot of time to master the controller. Oh well. More people to frag. :)

Starcraft has taken over almost all of my gaming time lately... i do play a little doom3 and some diablo II... although ive cycled through countless newer games in 1-2 week spurts...my opinion is that gaming is following suit with music and movies... basically going to crap, with truly good games becoming few and far between... i think the companies are spending so much time on graphics they're forgetting about content...
