I am using an Asus A7S-VM. I know it is better as a biz-box than
for o'c. anyhoo, i got the akba600 in and got to 150fsbx6/900!
then i got the urge to pencil the L1's. upon boot, i get a cpu
setup error message and the cpu setup(in bios) screen. so i
drop the fsb down to 100 and start over. after win98 starts, i
use wcpuid to see that the cpu is at 600mhz, (B)200X3(/B). i
know the 850's run on 200fsb. but the 600? most curious to me.
i was under the impression that penciling the L1's unlocked the
multiplier, not fsb. for now i'm at 112/224x3,672. what now?

100Mhz and 200Mhz are the same thing. Durons all run at 100Mhz FSB, but because it uses memory on the rising and falling cycles, they call it 200mhz FSB for promotional purposes. You should be able to get it to the same speed as before (150x6 or 300x3)

I penciled in all my L1 bridges on my Duron 700. It allowed me to change the multiplier with no trouble at all. I also have penciled in various L7 bridges as well trying to find the lowest voltage it will allow me to run the chip at 1ghz. So far I only got as far as 1.750 and Gave up. The chip will run 100% stable at 933 with a Vcore of 1.750. Tomorrow I will take off the HSF again and try maybe 1.8 and see if she'll fly.

The problem is with my Asus A7A 266. While having DDR installed I cannot run the board over 100mhz FSB in Jumper free mode. I can only run the board in Jumper mode. Which is fine I guess. Just more of a pain when I want to change Vcore. I have to do it by bridging the different L7 bridges. It wont allow me to change it thru the Bios in Jumper mode. Oh well, Just take me a little more time thats all.
