is anyone out there running the afore-mentioned cooling kits? if you are, did they get you any more mhz out of your ram? i just wanna know if they're worth the money?

currently i'm running 2*128mb sticks of samsung pc2100 at 148mhz at 2.7v. reckon i could push the voltage up if i had those things on my memory?

Thanks for the link, Placid.... I've been eyeing those kits myself.

I've got my P///600E up to 163FSB fairly stable, with generic PC133. Can't help but wonder if the chip has more, and the memory is holding me back at this point.

I think I might pick up one of these kits and give it a shot. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Could be the high AGP bus speed, too. At the 2/3 setting in the BIOS, that still works out to be almost 109 MHz on the AGP bus.

That's what I don't understand about that setting... I understand 1/1 for a 66MHz chip (Celeron/PII), and 2/3 for a 100MHz chip (Celeron/PII/P3), but what about a P/// "EB" chip, running at 133FSB default?? That puts the AGP bus at 87MHz right off the bat.

Mind you, I'm on the venerable BE6 II here.... do the newer boards have a 1/2 AGP setting in the BIOS?? That would kick the bus back to 66MHz for a default 133FSB chip. I'm thinking of the Abit SH6 in particular. I've been thinking of getting one of those....=)

Yes the newer boards have 1/2 agp.
Thats why the bx was never offically a 133mhz chipset.

Thanks...=)

One of these days, one of those SH6's will make it's prescence known to me for the right $$, and will find it's way into my PC....:D

It should be every member of O/Cers.com's montra.

I bought the kit a few weeks ago. I was impressed, for just $7.00 you get two heatspreaders, 2 clips and 2 heatsinks.

I was limited to an FSB of 165 at the time. I found that after installation it was good to 167.

I stuck the heat spreaders in the DDR and the two HS on my PCI AIW card memory, although one can also use a heatspreader on one side combined with two HS on the system memory if so desired.
Here is a pic of the kit contents:

I used to have hair down to my @$$. One day I cut it, to get a job, and it turned out the guy would have hired me anyway, he hired me over the phone before we ever met. Anyway, the day after I cut my hair, Jerry died, and I never really forgave myself. So I'll be thinking of that as I go pick up one of these TT kits.

PCnation.com includes the spreader on some of their memory or charges only $3 for the spreader on the sticks that it doesn't come with.

What about air cooling for ram? ThermalTake has also air cooling kit for ram, have heard about it?
I personally don't like the heatsink kit. The heatsinks are just wayyyy tooo big. They are too high! How you cool down the moemory from both side? There is no room for this. So has anybody made tests with thremal take air cooling ram kit?
