View Full Version : Quiet HSF for Athlon
Hey all
any know of a nice QUIET HSF combo for a 1.4GHZ TBIRD...
I dont plan on overclocking anytime soon but would like a good cooling system - but not at the cost of loud sounds...
Thanks alot all
if you can afford it then the glaciator is a great quiet and easy to install cooler, if you want something less expensive then the taisol cgk 760 with the default 20cfm 60mm fan is a good choice

Also you could get a CAK38, and replace it with a 27CFM quiet fan. That is wuite expensice tho, but just a suggestion. Or you could get the CAK38 and do the voltage mod to it.

glaciator is the best course. The CAK-38 with the YS tech is not going to be quite as good(it isn't as good with a delta).

I've always said an SK6 with a Sanyo Denki Ultra Quiet fan would be a good solution.. it'd cool really well compared to a lot of other "quiet" coolers.... The Glaciator is quiet too but not as much.
If you truly want quiet, that generation ended with the P1's.... I remember my Dad's P133 system running with just a heatsink....

Alpha has that new 80mm PAL8045 (http://www.overclockers.com/articles454/) heatsink coming out this month, you might want to try that with a Sunon "Quiet" 80mm fan running on some form of voltage regulator. This should provide good temps, and ultra quietness for non-OCed machines.
Even a Sunon "High Output" 80mm 42CFM 36.5DBa is quiet compared to a Delta38 60mm 38CFM 46.5DBa screamer. A 10DBa difference means it only makes half as much noise!
I really don't know anything about how loud the Delta fan is or the "quiet fans" to be honest... I just use my computer alot to listen to MP3s, game, and I don't want it making loud noise in the night =)
Ive heard the Delta called "screaming" several times though and just wanted to know if anyone knew any alternatives
Thanks alot for the posts all
unfortunately most heatsinks still only take 60mm fans, and for high powered 60mm fans this means they are noisy. The 60mm ys-tech 27cfm is a pretty quiet fan, I have a glaciator and I would say it's quieter. The suggestion for the new alpha and a quiet 30-40cfm fan is a pretty good compromise between volume and performance.
heya
where can I find information on the glaciator?
