I have a Sun monitor (I forget the model off hand) and it only displays resolutions of 1024x768 @75hz or higher. Up until now I've just been dealing with it, using software like powestrip etc... I'm at the point now where I'd rather just pick up a new monitor, but before I do, does anyone know a hardware mod I could do to get this monitor to work with all commmon resolutions? Could I possibly steal the guts from a non-working Trinitron monitor with the same tube size? It really is a nice monitor, I just cant stand having to switch monitors for bios updates, etc... anymore.

Theoretically? Maybe. To be frank if you had the ability to do it you wouldn't be asking.

Well I'd like to find out if it's possible before I go hunting down a donor... And if you're talking about my ability to solder and modify circuitry, you're very mistaken. I've been working with electronics since I was very young due to my fathers career as an electrical engineer with MOOG (http://moog.com/) . I'm currently majoring in digital electronics, and I work at a PCB stuffing house where I regularly solder SMT components and rework QC failed boards.
