Yes I have noticed. I've dropped 3 spots to 59th in the last couple days. Four months ago I was 51st and thinking I was going to break into the top 50 but it was not to be. I commend those that are climbing though and wish you all the best.

yep, I'm 759th (http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=83449) and very quickly moving up... blazing up one rank every few days ;)

I'll make it there someday...... I will........I........nope, too slow. :D

Of course, I only have one computer so that's probably why.

In a way, its not fair to the guys who've been at it a long time. Some of them folded for years before I started and struggled to get 5 points per day per machine. I came along just as Stanford straightened out the points and made large increases in the values of most of the protiens and added big packets. Now, I can pick up more points in a day with one machine than the old timers got with 60. I feel guilty about passing guys that have so many more machine hours invested in folding than I do. Well, almost :)

ChasR, I remember those 5 point days. I just started back up 6 days ago. I had a whole bunch of WUs and only 40 or so points! My first WU that I pumped out 6 days ago gave me 241! My jaw dropped, and then... I got hooked again :)

I'm quickly gaining more and more machines, and am recruiting people to use my user name... I'll be big! I swear it!

I've managed to eke my way up to #65 with only my 3 computers and I've passed many people who blew my doors off on page #3 & #2 last year. It seems they lost interest and quit.

So have fun now you young Turks with new found power. Maybe next year I'll get to repass some of you parked by the side of the road after you've burned out and moved on to other things. ;)

This is a marathon race, not a sprint.

Good luck to all who can keep it up at the high level competition tier.

My goal is to stay on page one and even hit the top 50 eventually. It won't be easy with so many bold borgers coming up the ranks.

lol, this is true, just a few months back 45 tore it up, now he's MIA....

tried and true is steady 'n slow ^_^ I've been workin the charts for a year now, always addin power, slowly, but they'll be folding for years

on a side note, what happens to old borgs, like if there is a client 1.0 will it still get WU's? 'cause all my borgs are 4.2 now.... 'n i can't update most....

Eventually Stanford will quit sending work to the old clients and they will just die out.

That isn't how I meant it, and you know it Nik. No one here deny's the huge contribution that you and the other big producers make to this team.

You guys recieve praise and recognition nearly everyday on here, I like to let the smaller-sized folders know that we're appreciated too is all.

That should only have happened once.. when we went from 1.0 to 2.0.

I agree, The large folders are the Icing on the cake - very nice to have
The small folders are the backbone. Without one or the other team32 would not be in 3rd place. The top 20 of our team represents about 1/3 of our production while everyone else represents the rest. All folders deserve some recognition.

Everybody on the team counts. If you split the top20 from the rest of the team you'd have 2 small teams. Together we are #3 and movin up. I've noticed all of the newer folders moving up GO AWAY ERPAULS! :p (although I'm a relative newcomer myself compared to most of the top 10) when i see them moving up it gives me motivation to borg more. Speaking of which if a get this install contract I'm shooting for I'll be able to borg 10-15 new dell p4's. That autta help me hold on a bit longer!

Then I could always go out and get a real job.... but lets not get hasty yet. :D

In the end we all win.

Bigger points means its much easier to climb the ranks... I have been folding for maybe four months or so, and I'm looking to bust into the top 100 within a month.

Everything from the really big folders to all the single boxes crunching away are really important to this team. AF is a great example of how powerful small folders are, they have no big guns and many many small ones. We are pretty great examples of how powerful great folders are, we've got a lot of people with really productive boxes and a lot of good borgers too.

I especially have a lot of respect for the old timers who have been crunching for years and have always kept the client installed through new machines and fresh installs and all. :)

You know, it is disheartening in a way to see how the points values have changed on the project through the years and may well have gotten some of the old time folders mad. I first started folding here with team 32 back in December 2001 and that first year, it was hard as heck to even score 5 points per day per machine, if I remember right. Before I moved on to my present team, I processed 2,332 wu's for 13,095 points for O/C, yielding an average point value of 5.61 points per work unit. Since I started folding for my present team, I've processed 15,620 work units for 505,512 points with them, yielding a a point value of 32.36 points per work unit and I imagine that the young guns have a much higher ratio than that, with the present points system. I'm not complaining at all about the present points system though as it has made folding a lot more fun and your progress is a lot more visible with the way points are scored now.

As for me, I stuck with folding and adapted to the changes. :) I still have fun running the project and I also get some satisfaction knowing that hopefully I'm helping to cure some dreadful diseases.

I'm going to add one more P4c and do 2 more clients with HT enabled. That will pretty much top me out for quite a while unless I get a lucky borg oppertunity.

Well I have to say, I'm with ChasR. I came along about 6 months ago when the points started getting serious. But as with all computers, every 18 months....

BTW, I guess my campus has ~3000 open acces, usually unused desktops in the ~2.0ghz range. Fold at 10% on each and you have 600ghz. Why must the IT dept suck?

What inferior breed do you fold for now? :sn:

Oh, excuse the hell out of me for posting that I fold for another team, bud!

I didn't list the name because I know that the powers that be here are funny about such stuff as naming other folding teams; they might think I'm pimping my team and trying to recruit. Last I heard, we are all folding for Team Stanford, trying to help humanity by curing disease.

I don't go cutting down other people's teams and I expect the same treatment in return, I.M.O.G. Since you are a senior member, you should know better than to mock someone else's team. Just because the team I fold for is smaller than yours doesn't mean that it's worth is lesser than O/C's team. I was here folding for O/C before you were even participating in the project; I left because I didn't much care for all the subteam stuff and the negative response by upper management to starting an "Adopt a Rig" program so I went to a team that didn't have all the subteams and was the first forums I know of that had Team Folding Rigs. I'm still devoted to the Folding Project after almost 3 years and I stop in at several forum's to post about folding.

BTW, if you are curious about which team I presently fold for, just check the stats.

And with that said, I guess I'll be saying adios, amigo. :bang head

Take two deep breaths and call me tomorow morning - if your still in a bind, try a laxative.

I was kidding - just joking by the word "inferior" - of course we are all folding for the same cause, and its just a silly distributed computing project anyways... Nothing to be so defensive about and get so damned worked up.

If you had any clue you would realize I don't go around harassing people - you were obviously just waiting for someone here to say anything about folding for a different team so you could get dramatic about it.

So anyways, don't sweat it, read the smilies in the future, and lighten up... Lifes a long road, don't have a heart attack before its your time.

Mudd is a rocking folder and has contributed much to our team, even after he moved on to help out another upstart. I'm 100% positive that IMOG was kidding, I hope you post here again soon Mudd.

Now back to the matter at hand...

All I have to say is that I'm sitting up here and waiting for one of these fresh faced young guns straight out of Folding 101 to sack up and challenge me.

I've been up here too long and I urge, nay, I dare you n00bs to grow some hair and try and match my production. I'd say overtake me, but that's not happening without some help from Bill Gates, so I'll just challenge you to match my production.

Someone needs to get on deck and swing for the fence before I start yelling "Kneel before Zod" again.

/ball bustin' :D

P.S. Welcome to the new power-folders, and I have always supported the guys with <5 rigs, they are our backbone. w00r!
