The bios needs a update or the board is just not capable of using 128mb memory's.

Some compaq WILL NOT use certain sticks of mermory and they prefer to have parity......... just an observation.........

I have a friend whose compaq 300mhz Amd k6-2 system won't take anything other than pc66. If the spd says pc 100 or 133, it won't recognize it. It also only accepts a maximum upgrade module of 32mb to replace the existing 16mb dimm, this combined with 32mb of onboard memory equals a wholloping 64mb max for the entire system. How's that for a forced upgrade? ;)

I have a Compaq (P//400MMX), and I had my mobo replaced by Compaq (warranty), and I threw in two sticks of 128MB each (PC133), works great...no problems , check the user manual to see if it is PC100/133. Mines says PC100, but pc 133 is "downward" compatible. Hope this help
