When I reboot my system according to cpucool my available memory fluctuates , I've seen it anywhere from 141 to 183 is this normal or is it possible my memory is dying?

where are you seeing this,in the bootup screen?

No not during bootup , I use CPUcool which in addition to cooling my AMD during idle really well it has some other features one that shows my the available memory. After reboot I notice this value fluctuates and I'm wondering if its normal?

Maybe you can do some experimenting and tell my if yours fluctuates off of a fressh reboot CPUcool here (http://www.tweakfiles.com/diagnostic/cpucool.html) .

if only that program has problems reading your ram you should be fine. I recomend turing fast power on off in your BIOS, this will test all the RAM in your system. If you can boot like taht without any RAM problems, turn it back on (boots faster like the option says)

Does windows still report the correct amount of ram?

Windows still reports that I have 256meg of ram which is correct.

I'll try turning fast power off to see if my system still boots or remains stable.

Its strange though my Available memory has seemed to settled down a little it seems every other reboot the available memory changes from 144 to 166 and then back again ?? I think I'm going to install Cashman since it also has this feature to monitor the sytems available memory.

Well I tried Cashman 4.1 and it showed the same available memory fluctuation after bootup.

I also disabled Quick Power on Self Test and it ran through the numbers from 1 to like 260000 three consecutive times then booted without a hitch. I tried to reboot and run the test again but it bypassed the test on reboot maybe after I post this message and reboot it will run the memory test again?

a lot of boards bypass the mem test on reboot. on mine, for instance, i have to shut down the system and start it up again to get a cpu/mem test.
