so the story goes...i'm pissed off at how bland my case looks. oh yeah its nice to look at..very cute looking, i guess. Small, light, perfect for lan. IDK...after awhile of looking at it, it just seems so boring. I'm getting the whole uv lighting/wiring overhaul so that it looks sexy, but it doesn't seem like enough.....

there it is...in the process of getting stripped down in that picture cuz i'm planning to paint the agp and pci slots with uv paint (http://store.yahoo.com/svcompucycle/fgrnb15-34.html)..if any of you have any pointers on how to do that, you're more than welcome to let me know

firstly, gonna have to do something about that grill. the cage for the hdds are really grill-esque enough (as in they block enough airflow), so it's gotta go.

HERE is where i really have problems with the case. I mean, c'mon. it's kinda just...there, know what I mean? So I get this crazy idea that just might look awesome, but the problem is that i don't have the tools to do it, nor would i know what tools to use assuming that i go and get them.

FIRST. I would like to point out that no part of this idea is set in stone yet, and my ideas are no more than sketches on pieces of paper done hastily and w/o proper measurements, so try and bear with me on this..anyway the idea is thusly:

Ok i hope we all agree that this is (more or less :D) the amd symbol. I just had this crazy idea to cut out the border of this amd symbol to the middle of the panel as demonstrated. I tried to bold the outline so that it's easier to see, but I intend to cut that part out so that the amd symbol can be seen by looking through the side. that didn't seem like too much when I thought about it, so

lets say I put AMD in bold letters across the top. and being a silly asian fellow that i am, i figure that i'm gonna need japanese kanji to top it all off. it reads "roku-yon" or "sixty-four" (as in Athlon 64, duhh :)) in japanese. no i'm not japanese, but i thought that it would add a cool touch to it.

There. To make it stand out even MORE, I'll paint the panel black within the amd symbol. Lets just pretend that the shaded region is black paint, and the bolded lines are the holes haha.

Thats pretty much it. Since I'm kinda restricted for space. Shine either this (http://www.coolerguys.com/840556051725.html) or this (http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/lit-65.html) or whatever you guys can recommend across the inside so that it shines through the holes and maybe get a cool 3dish effect.

problems

what should i use to remove that fan grill from the front panel? And where do I get such a device?

what do I use to make precise, semi-thin lines that can cut through about 2cm of aluminum?

are there any compact, powerful (cheap maybe? ;) ) forms of lighting to make the effect complete?

And thats pretty much it. I appreciate you guys bearing with me w/ the measurements and make-shift diagrams and any help/feedback/comments you can suggest to me. Cheers!

Instead of painting the slots you can just get this:http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?depa=0&description=13-999-512
Get a dremel. That will solve the fan grill poblem and you can use it to cut into your case. I reccomend the Black and Decker RBX, Amazon has it on sale so go grab it. Cold cathrode lights are pretty inexpensive. I've seen them for about 10 bucks and up.

yes instead of painting them just buy the slot covers and that way if you ever decide to change the theme of your case then you can just buy another color

You'll get a much bigger spread from the 3 LED cluster than with the cannon. I don't think I'd buy them from the overpriced folks at FrozenCPU though. SVC has them for under $3 (http://www.svc.com/ledlicl13or4.html).

One caveat about the LED clusters: The UV set does not work nearly as well as a CCFL for making stuff glow.

Agreed, I'm using 2 of the 3-cluster type LED's in a pretty big tower and I get very little illumination. If I had the time to do it over right now, I would switch to CCFL.
