what's all this heat about anyways?
I went to Fry's Electronics in search of more ways to cool my system, after extensive reading of this site and the ideas of many. I looked at HSFs and was confused - kinda. They had these copper core orbs with this stick of gum thin base plate and a few fins that wrap around the fan to where air flow created from the fan would not even blow past the fin rated to 1.5gig and a huge, masive, godzilla sized copper heat sink with a massive core and tons-o-fins and a huge fan to boot rated to 1gig. How do you trust what the package says? I did add another 5.25bay fan from antec to my antec case and my case heat dropped one degree. I also noticed they did not have any HSFs overall that looked to my eye to be of any super-powers of icing. all these glaciator heat sinks and comparable brands - shouldn't these be carried by locale vendors?
To everyone who is stateside - where do you buy your hercules-all-powerfull-heat-combator accessories?
What is the best thing to look for in a HSF?
What brands specifically do yuo recomend?
