i think anyone with less than a x800/6800GT will be dissapointed in thier cards.
i think its based mostly on high end eye candy graphics only test.
hell id hate to see what a gf4 ti4200 would get and i know for a fact it can play any current game out,not with eye candy on tho.

Man deathstar i was looking at ur score my jaw dropped this test really kills a top pc 15fps lol. Can u run the test again with all the tests enabled ?yeh its not easy by any means.and it takes alot to get a much faster system than mine.
i can only run the tests i have now,the others are in the pro version.

yes mine were ran useing the 4.9/hot fixed drivers.
i did 4064 with omega 4.8's
and 5466 with hot fixed 4.9's

what they fix exactly? im not saying anything is wrong ,and from what i see 5466 is on par with a 6800gt scores.
the 4064 score is just sad on the 4.8's

Yea i relized those extra tests only work on the pro now, 5400 isnt on par with a 6800GT it seems its even faster then a 6800 Ultra @ 460/1.29 looking from the results here.

My top score @ 425/ 1.15 (that turning of the fast writes fixed my prob btw) i got a max of 4609 for now, and i think that 5700 cpu score igot was some kinda bug cuss now i only got 4400 altho my cpu i lowerd down 1fsb and 10mhz i got 1fps lower on both tests. I think the cpu test is bugged out big time.

Maybe im using the wrong drivers for this test but i think my 4609 is pretty normal for a gt considering that guy above got 4900 with his ultra clock much higher then me

Exactly what he said. I get trumped easily by AthlonXP's running at the same speeds as me, but with higher video clocks. I haven't tried proc at stock, but I'm guessing it wouldn't do much. I get 2980, btw, at 454/387, with insanely massive artifacts. I might try vmodding just to attempt to get rid of these artifacts at the same speeds.

How in the world can I DOUBLE my 2k5 score with a 9500np over my 5800 when the 5800 plays farcry, ut2k4, doom3 and halo much much smoother with higher filtering options?!?!?

Looking at scores from R300's and RV350's in comparison to NV30/35's, it's pretty clear that this version of 3dmark is severly skewed in the favour of ATI's cards. Anybody know why, or when to expect the first patch? ;) Clearly this does not, in its current state, operationalize what real games use.

We will see. Either way, not even you can deny that a high 7k for a stock system is wholly impressive. Once we get the Nforce4 rolling with dual Ultras / UEs at 500mhz a piece, we will see 10k+

Technically Macci broke 10k with a 9800XT, the fastest 9800pro is 8.4k ;) But I take your point, what seems impossible today may be achievable in a few months with driver tweaks etc, although 3dmark05 seems to be more video card dependant than 03 ever was. My scores dont change at all with my prescott from 3.2ghz to 4ghz although as deathstar13 says, it looks like my 9800pro has become the bottleneck.

I was hopeing that 05 would be a bit more cpu dependant kinda like a mix of 01 and 03. I think I will be sticking with 01 and 03 for the time being.

you can go to guru3d.com and look in download ATI driver section. I think 8.07 is a new beta driver. For 4.9 version, there are two kinds. The 4.9 and 4.9 with fix.

Bleh Drec. It's the fact that the test is completely composed of DX9 simulations and shaders that your card compeltely LACKS or sucks at. Which is why it's being taken to school by a 9600xt. Do all games out right now have those shaders and DX9 enhancements being used? No. Very few have those shaders and if they do, allow you to turn them off.

I ended up scoring 5010. System is in my sig, except that 1 of those 512mb sticks is dead, so I'm running single channel at the moment.

My score was considerably lower yesterday (~4300), but after updating my drivers to those 66.70's, I had a massive jump.

Tried to tweak my 6800GT some more too, but my PSU is holding me back. When I flashed the voltage up, it autodetected considerably higher, went through Return to Proxycon fine with no artifacts, but when that second nature-ish test came up it was just too much. My PSU has been under strain for a while now, and I think it was just too much for it to supply.

Not too bad. New Antec PSU this weekend and hopefully it'll head up even more.

with xp sp2 and the ati beta drivers i just got 2604 3dmarks and 4007 cpu score.

Can that cpu score be correct. Athlon xp 2400+ @ 11.5x200 (2300mhz)?
i noticed the score for the cpu jumping around and not staying steady.

The core is pretty much maxed out right now, will be doing a Vgpu mod in a coulpe of days. The ram can probably go higher, but I havent tried yet cause dont have any ram sinks on them.

Going to do some little tweaks later tonight, but I doubt I'll get much of an improvement till I do the v-mod and get some ramsinks and possible active cooling for the ram.

W1zzard's softmodded catalyst 4.7 (http://www.techpowerup.com/softmod/downloads.php). Lately there's been absolutely no performance increases for the R300 core cards, so I haven't bothered updating versions to the latest. Once the official drivers with A.I. come out I may try them, but for now these work great.

Hmmm... Sparked by that question I decided to update drivers and see what kind of an impact they would have. Looking through the ORB, I saw the Omegas were scoring a few hundred points higher than the official Cats (which the W1zzard drivers are except for the softmod), so I decided to try them out.

W1zzard 4.7 - 2012
Omega 4.10b - 2193 (wow!! almost 200 extra points!)


Delving further turned up a few more supprises. First, '05 seems to be a lot more tolerant of memory speed than other programs. My games will die at over 303, but 3DMark ran flawlessly at 315 (and possibly higher, but I haven't tested). Stranger still, even with all the new pixel shaders and other things thrown in to torture the graphics card, it appears that my poor CPU is still a bottleneck :D Check the numbers...

Omegas 390/303, CPU Stock (11.5x133) - 2193
Omegas 390/306, CPU Stock (11.5x133) - 2194 (1 extra point for 3MHz mem...)
Omegas 390/306, CPU OCed (11.5x143) - 2223 (or 30 extra for 10MHz on my FSB)

Well as you guys can see there is a new sticky for all 3DMark 2005 results which are part of our 3Mark team's effort. This thread will remain for the 'unofficial' results or resultswith beta or non-futuremark approved drivers etc .
