hi.
ive been using the coolbits and 6.50 driver and now i got the 12.41 i couldnt find a way to overclock the chips anymore. have noticed there is a NVmax.. is it from nvidia? what am i supposed to do for overclocking with 12.41 driver? mine is the WHQL certified one.
also, i remember both the "vert sync" and "pre-rendered frames" options into the direct3d became only available when the coolbits was registered. now there is the same problem, will the NVmax or the solution to overclock also bring them back to the settings?
thanks.

i just learned a good way to get the "coolbits" back to the 12.41 control panel. this is the procedure:

1. get a zipped version of the 10.80 - last one with "coolbits" enabled;

2. extract the nvcpl.dll to the SYSTEM directory* (if youre using W98SE) and replace that one from the 12.41 version;

3. restart the system with the coolbits writen into your registry.

* if youre using another OS try looking for that file and just replace it when extracting.

Instead of using the CoolBits hack or replacing the nvcpl.dll with an earlier version, you could use RivaTuner...IMO the best program available for tweaking your Nvidia based card. If you're interested in giving it a try, it's available here as a free download...

...before using RivaTuner for the first time, I would suggest reading the FAQ (a link to the FAQ is on the same page as above).;)

i prefer nvmax over rivatuner.......my 2 cents....i think nvmax is a lot easier to use

I used Nvmax for awhile when it was in it's infancy, up until Charnley decided to pull the plug on it. If you read through past posts in the Nvmax forum, you'll notice that Unwinder (the developer of RivaTuner) was a major contributor to the forum...AFA helping Charnley out with the Nvmax programming.

Also, from what I've read...the final release of Nvmax will be shareware.
