View Full Version : Connection to TV Problem - HAEELP
I am trying to make use of my rather large tv screen. I connected to the tv using SVideo and Scart [tried both].
The problem is the screen is kind of blurry. Films and games are fine but the desktop view and applications are just too blurry to use.
I connected my 2nd system to the tv - which has a Hercules Kyro II with TV out to my Sony Wega 38" TV. I used the generic tv driver that comes with Win2K....Any help? Does anyone know?

the reason that the text is blurry is because regular tv bascially messes up resolutions over 640x480........at 800x600(i think max res for tv) everything on the desktop is blurry to a point where u cant even figure out the words on the screen but movies are just fine
that's regular....i think
i have seen this problem on a few systems with a 20" or bigger tv
So there is nothing that I can do about it?

Don't think so. When I hook mine up it gets blurry.
You might try changing the desktop to 640x480, it has a little effect though.

get a program called tvtool it lets you do a resolution of 720x480 which is what an ntsc tv is (american). It helps out alot.

TV Tool did not work - it looks for TNT2 / Geforce cards
Any other ideas?

The problem is primarily due to the different video standards and proximity to the monitor. Computer monitors use the VGA standard and the monitor was meant to be seen in a 1-to-1 ratio, the "1" referring to the diagonal measurement of the monitor to the distance to view the monitor.
TVs have a different video standard - the NTSC or PAL standard and the viewing ratio is more like 1-to4.
If a TV resolution was measured in the same manner as the VGA resolution, the typical TV resolution would be about 440x400. You need to consider this when trying to view your computer's screen on a TV - thus, it's best to reduce the default resolution on your TV to a lower resolution, such as 600x400. In addition, in order to better see some fonts, you need to make them as big as possible. You may also have to make other adjustments in order to take advantage of the bigger screen on a TV.
