6800ge...WTF??

Ok, on my continuing hunt to find a good quality, relatively cheap, and high performace GFX card (99% sure its gonna be a Nvidia!) i have found this 'gem'....

It is called the "6800 Gamers Edition", and is apparently 25% faster then other cards with the 6800 GPU....

has anybody ever seen a bench on it, i have looked at Toms Hardware, and Anandtech and found nothing on it...

incidently, i found a comparison between the ASUS 6800u and the Albatron 6800u, the albatron was more overclockable, cooler and quieter..... ;)

basically its a 6800NU with 256mb DDR3 instead of the 128MB DDR1 like the normal NU's
but look in the link below its said to be able to be modded to an ultra.

id stick with an ultra till that mod is prooven working.and even then it may not be worth it.a GT is better out of the box price and performance wise.

It only has 12 pipes over the 16 the Gt has, i dunno about the mod working tho it isnt garunteed, I would get the GT 16 pipes over the 12 that card has.

Hmm, i don't think thats the only difference....the RRP of the ASUS 6800U is, $1399 , the 6800GE is $1099, and the GT is $759.....in aussie $$$...

half those prices, and it will be *roughly* american....


so i think there is a bigger difference then 256mb of DDR3 RAM.....

but the only way to see, is to see a benchmark on it....

BTW, do the 6800, 6800GT and 6800U have the same GPU???

IMHO why would you buy a card that was the same price as the gt with 12 pipes and plan on modding it to ultra speeds. I would just buy a gainward golden sample or an evga 6800gt and overclock it to ultra speeds. $ for $ i think that is your best bet.
