Since the last two versions of the Nvidia unified MB driver, I have not been able to have sound out of my center channel unless I'm watching a movie or if I go from digital 5.1 to normal 5.1. I think it was version 4.24 that worked last. Does anyone know of any settings that will make my center channel work in digital mode using the 5.10 unified driver? I'm using the optical out to my Sony digital reciever. Meanwhile, I'm going to try the older drivers again.

I tried the last 3 versions and it still has the same problem. The center channel only works when I watch a DVD. The blue mulit channel decoding light on my reciever is on all the time too, so everything should be working. Anyone have any ideas?

ive had issues with soundstorm in the past, i just use my soundcard only now. Also, the part about the dvd's makes sense, normal audio and stuff is in stereo, while dvds have full true surround.

The thing is that all my channels used to work for music, games, etc.

oh, i bet you had the 'create center channel' option enabled, try that...
I've had problem every time i updated the soundstorm driver. I just use the original that came w/ my asus mobo.

the newer driver does not have a "create center" option. this option basically enables a center channel when the app producing sound doesn't have one natively. If you wish to enable this now you need to open up regedit, search for "createcenter" and change the value from 0 to 1. all done :D.
Enjoy,
J.

Thanks, it FINALLY works! This has been bothering me for a really long time. I wanted to use the newer drivers because of some bug fixes in certain games, but I also really wanted my center channel to work too. Now I can have both. It sounds like other people were wondering about this too so hopefully their problem is now resolved also. THANKS again.

I haven't updated my SoundStorm drivers in ages, and I don't plan too, after version 3.66 they suck, so I stick with 3.66 and I am happy. :)

What's wrong with the versions after 3.66?

Well nothings really wrong with them, but I just feel that the audio quality is horrible, and with the 3.66 drivers it is perfection.
