my 9600xt celestica gold edition won't oc its core even up 20mhz when the mem is at stock. i tried cats 4.9 and the latest omega, but still no luck. i can get the mem up 30mhz, but not even 15mhz core when coupled with a mem oc. i doubt it's the card cause people have gotten some insane ocs out of this same brand same card. is it my cooling? the damn thing only has a single tiny fan attached, no hs what so ever.

if the heatsink is burning hot, add better cooling. however you may not get much of an oc, 9600xts are often maxed out, 500MHz is already pushing it, many get speedbinned as 9600pros that wont hit 500MHz. If this is any consolation, I could only overclock my 9800 pro like 20MHz so I sold it for a softmodded 9500np that overclocks 75MHz above stock, way better

heh thx. but still, at least overdrive should work! i mean my comp crashes even on overdrive while playing games, never mind the artifacts test on atitool... oh and my card doesn't even have heat sinks, just this extremely cheap looking fan.

My 9600 Pro didnt oc well either. It could only hit 450 stable with h2o cooling, and not even that with just air.
all cards oc differently, even in the same product line. Some are good oc'rs and some are not so good. Its luck really, but if you added some active cooling and some sinks to the ram you might squeeze a bit more out of it..really a cheap solution too

Why do you have to have about 5 active threads about your 9600xt?
