I have UT GOTY edition, and I like it alot. I am wondering, what is the advantage of ut2k4? Does it just have better and more maps or what?
Is it worth the money to buy it?

UT2k4 is arguably the best game of 2004 as of right now.(halo2 will probably be game of the year). Go ahead and get it, very good game, has awesome multiplayer, lots of mutaters, lots of community map packs, and lots of mods already.

Its worth it, just be sure to get the DVD version. It will make it much easier to install so you don't have to switch disks 5 times... If you've played Halo and liked its multiplayer, you'll love UT2K4. I was a major Halo player until I got it, because it has the gameplay of both UT and Halo, and the vehicles are way better... Except the Leviathan! I hate the Leviathan! Unless my team has it, that is.
Yeah get it man. The game is ridicously polished, as has a big community for mods/maps etc.
yea UT2k4 blows Halo away. It has much tighter control and much more varied gameplay. There are tons of gametypes and mods to try.

yes that is all that needs to be said best game ever... and dang i wish i would have waited until the dvd version came out... :bang head
Me luffs this game. I'm such a geek, my girlfriend got this game for me.
:P
The main difference between 2k3 and 2k4 is that it feels like UT, so you should enjoy that. Like all the above said it's definately quite the visual improvement as well so be prepared for some eye candy amongst other things. I have been playing UT since it's inception, I truly have always enjoyed the Unreal series there has been countless mods and games built off this engine that have always heightened the experience if one ever bores of Vanilla UT they can always find a mod/game to bring the excitement back to UT.

ut2k4 is an awsome game. Much better graphics. More modes to play such as assault, onslaught (with vehicles), invasion, mutant and others along with regular favorites like deathmatch, TDM, CTf and what not. The weapons are all the same you are used to with a few new additions such as the ion painter and such. There are also new moves you can do like the double jump and wall dodging.
Now, with all that said, already there are your hacks available. The driver based wall hacks stink. I've already seen an aimbot a few times. The other hack I've seen is a dodge hack. You are suppose to have a 3 second delay before you can do a new dodge after your last dodge. Seen people dodge without the delay though. Haven't seen any other hacks.. but then again, it's a PC game and hacks are apart of playing online PC games. They happen.
I still love playing the game though. I tend to play assault, onslaught, invasion, and TDM. I only seem to see hackers in DM and CTF and no where else at least yet.
Also, the built in voice over IP ingame kicks butt. Being able to smack talk your foes or coordinate with team mates is awsome. But, there are always the ever present morons still online. I was playing the other day and some guy from pakestan was basically pissing everyone on the server off with his foul mouth. So, even though it was a DM game, everyone went straight for him. LOL no one killed anyone else but him. Over and over and over... good gawd that was funny.

And all of these extras are FREE, the only game I have ever seen with so many FREE mods!
Yes, get the game, you will like it. It has a good single player to.
I think it's accurate to put this game under the "You better not go to a LAN party without it" category.
