View Full Version : SDRAM performance 20% REDUCED !!

hi to all .. i really need your help guys.. I have 2 dimms*128mbs PC133 SDRAM from NEC and Samsung..
My problem is that every time that these two work together the transfer rate of the memory is reduced by 20% ! ! ! The MFLOPS and the WHETSTONES of the CPU are also reduced!

When either of the dimms is working on its own everything is restored back to normal..

Is this a BIOS problem (QDI Superb1) or is it because I am using 2 different brands ? HELP !!

cpu is a K6-2 450@500 (4x124) 2.4V

It might have something to do with the quality and the timing of the memory chips on the ram. Some PC133 sdram uses 7.5ns and some with 7.0ns chips. I have two differernt rams on my other pc and the memory performance decreased as well.

It could also be that one is pc-66 and the other is pc 100. Or one is just of lower quality than the other. If one is pc-66 and the other is pc-100, the pc-100 will work at pc-66 speed.

Thodoris started the thread saying that he had 2 128 PC133! Besides his bus speed is at 124... hardly OClockable with PC66!!!

Ill go for the different timings in your sticks of ram!!! One of them is decreasing your performance!
