Hey all. I don't even know where to start on this one :) I have a big screen HDTV so I want a card that can output with the highest possible resolution. I've seen ATI DVI-to-Component adapters, would that work?

If that works, I can just get a Radeon 9000 and use the DVI to the TV :) That would be really nice (and cheap).

Thanks!

you could get the x800pro, which has 1080i output(HD resolution) that uses component cables. dunno if the earlier ATI cards have it though

I remeber reading a review on the new ATI capture card that can capture HDTV and it stated that you needed a DX9 card to be able to output the HD signals. So I would think that all you would need is a DX9 card...

I have a Sammy 50” DLP with a DVI input.

I have a HTPC running SageTV which captures the shows I want recorded.

The cable feed is plugged into a Hauppauge PVR-250MCE. I then use an ATI 9500Pro thought the DVI to the TV. The 9500 is set to 1280x720 which is the TV’s native resolution.

Depending on what you will be doing I would get a DirectX9 card. The SageTV software has direct support for 9.0

DX9 it is. I don't want to put an x800 in this rig, but a card that can do some light gaming would be cool (not doom 3, but NFSU and other console-ish games). I was thinking of a 9600 pro or something. So my TV doesn't have DVI, but the adapter I liked to above converts DVI to Component, and supposedly works with all newer ATI cards and enables 1080i rez.

The 8500 AIW, and\or any DX9 card will work, I think.

Btw its a pain getting any of the P resolutions to work properly. they always overscan or WAY underscan. The I's worked fine for me.

...that would be another TV tuner.

But really, it depends. If you plan on gaming with it, get an according card. If you don't, just use two TV tuners and an old spare video card.
