Can somebody explain me how did Kingston manage to pull this 2-2-2-5 memory, which uses Samsung chips? I thought only BH-5 can manage these tight timings at 400DDR.

brand new yield from samsung that is amazing. it runs 2.2.2.5 up to around 215/220 at 2.8 volts. it doesnt go as hi with those latencies as some of the better bh5/bh6 cause that memory responds to much higher voltage, but it ALSO will run 275/300+ mhz at higher latencies, which makes it very good for the ddr566/600 thats coming out

Ha, I should have waited and gotten this one instead of buying BH5 6 months ago. The problem with my BH5 is that it can't run 250MHz at 1:1 no matter how relaxed the timing is, so I am forced to running at 5:4.

BH-5 wont run 250 without 3,3-3,5 vdimm...at least not the double sided(or most of em)

Well, I'm a bit unwilling to try and vdimm mod my AI7 at this moment. At least I have a stable 3.2 vdimm with it. If any manufacturer comes up with more than that, I would consider buying it.

The Sammy TCCD do run 2-2-2-5, but they max out at 211-215 or so, 3D stable. Above that is pure -3-3-.

The closest thing to 2-2-2-5 timings now is the Ballistix PC3200, or even PC4000. The early PC3200 could do 221, 2-2-2-5 @ 2.6 volts, maxing at around 225 at 2.8. Both it and the PC4000 can do 225 to 238-242 or so at 2.5-2-2-5, which is a tick slower than 2-2-2-5, but at 2.8 or less volts.

A good set of early Ballistix PC3200 might be able to do 250+, 1:1, 2.5-2-2-5 with >2.8 volts, but . . . see below.

I can tell you now, Crucial is relaxing the timings of the PC3200. Sticks with real fast timings at low VDIMM have gone bye bye. The later sticks are rated 2-3-2-5 but are extremely versatile, able to hit 260, 1:1, 2.5-3-3-6 at 2.7 volts. They still do pretty good at 2-2-2-5, up to 225 or so at 2.8 volts, but mid range is 'only' up to 238 or so at 2.5-2-2-5. 238-245 is 2.5-2-3-5. This has to be the most versatile set of ram I own. All timings/fsb above I hit with 2x512 sticks.

It's funny that Crucial has 'downgraded' their Ballistix PC3200 to 2-3-2-5 at 200 fsb. Where does it actually need -2-3-? Above 238 fsb or so :p.

And hell, all my testing was done on the IS7-E with 2.8 max VDIMM. You don't even need an AI7 to get the best of this ram. Currently running 294, 5:4, 2.5-2-2-5 at 2.7 volts with PC4000 Ballistix.
