Kyro II or mx 400? There the same price now, and as far as benhmarks the kyro II keeps up with the gts, just wondering why so many people are buying mx's when they could get what seems to be like more of a card with the kyro II? I really dont know all that much about the kyro's abilities but by the reviews i woul take it over a mx. Can I get some opinons on the value cards?
the kyro doesn't have a gpu, but if you have a good cpu then it is quite a bit better than the mx.

I use a Kyro II for some time now, and I must say, it really rocks..
The image quality is amazing...

There's no reason for a gamer to buy the mx especially if you have a very fast computer. Kyro II is a very good video card price/performance wise. Nothing can beat this card at level of performance it gives: note i amtalking about the price/performance comparison.
This budget card even beat the the GF2 family and even the might GF3 in some instances. You might say i am trying to pull your leg, here's one of the link to prove it:

There's not reason for ANYBODY to buy an MX except for total ignorance when it comes to computer parts.
thats not exactally true, what about some one with a slow cpu? the kyro wouldn't compare with an mx on something like a p2 300, it was the ideal upgrade for my friend who had that cpu as he can now play recent games.

I agree with you that is IF the the person who will get the card has a slow CPU, but on todays technology, most of us GAMERS are on the high end already so my advice is get the Kyro II you can't go wrong = )
IF you get the Kyro II now, you will cry like a little baby when next generation of games come out (Unreal2, Doom3, Unreal Warfare) that utilizes hardware T&L extensively. Wait for the next Kyro if you're a Kyro junkie. At least the MX has decent performance with current T&L game (MDK2), which doesn't even fully utilize T&L.

I run Linux on several machines so the choice is clear....GF2 It is very cool to have open gl support in other OS's plus you can't beat NVidia's drivers no other company does as much work to get quality drivers that are trouble free. I have not had a Kyro so I am not sure about there support. I rate driver quality as the #1 feature to look for in a video card.

well I have to give the Kyro2 the recomendation
the card is new and the driver support will keep getting better
as for speed it will run with the fastest cards out today
that includes the Gefo 3 at more than half the price,
now if you wait till the kyro 3 comes out with T&L support ..then you will wait for the next card with some other support and so on..
you will be happy with the MX or Kyro2 ..but the k2 is quite a bit faster for the same cash:

the fill rate of the geforce 2mx will be a bottleneck before a good cpu would on the kyro, even on games designed for TnL.

Agreed, but if you play at lower res, say 800x600 at 32-bit color, then the GF2 MX will clopper the Kyro in a game with fully optimized T&L support. When you get into 1K and higher res, then the fill of the GF2 begin to show it's weakness. For me I play mostly First Person shooters online. The matches and intense, I don't care for eye candy, so I run at 640x480x32, the GF2 wins hands down for T&L games there.
the cards fill rate can still be a bottle neck even in lower resolutions, and I predict the mx's fill rate becoming a bottleneck before a cpu clocked around 800mhz+
The next generation of games with fully TnL optimised engines may well perform better on an mx, but they will still be playable on a kyro, but in the future when the mx's fill rate and memory throughput are starting to put it off the min spec list, a good cpu will still make such games playable with the benefits of the kyros extra fillrate and throughput. Of course if nvidia get geforce3 mx out soon it could put the ball back in STMicroelectronics's court.
