What is the best way of decreasing the noise on the fan? I love the performance of the black delta's but what makes it unatractive is the noise it gives off.

If you take off the sticker very carefully, then apply a small shot of graphite to the fan where the sticker was, reapply the sticker, it should quieten it up some.

In The bearings?
Will thet quiet it up much?

What about a small amount of WD-40 or Bar & Chain Oil?

Have you tried unpluging the fan ? I find unpluging a fan quiets it right up ! LOL Sorry folks I couldn't resist .

Hey, they´re all teasing you here, I think! If bearings are crapped, they may be running a little longer with a little drop of oil, but not for very long. Noise may go away for a while, but some day....
But i believe the noise you´re talking about, is form the fan blades? Not much to do about that, but reducing the fan speed!
Or switch to another more silent brand...

Watercooling is another trick. Veeery silent, indeed!

Ya Most noise comes from the blades ripping through the air
Fans also vibrate! Try putting some rubber washers between the case and the fan!!!

That oil thing works when your bearings begin to age and start
to go bad! (Very long time)

You can balance the fan(similar to what you do with a house fan) to reduce vibration.

You can mount it with rubber groumets to absorb some of the vibrations.

You can polish the fan blades so that they cause less turbulance, and as a result less noise.

And you can run some form of a voltage controler in a series with the fans possative lead.

That's about it.

If you do use a rheostat and the red (positive) lead be sure to insulate the rheo from the grounded case. I prefer to use the LM317 voltage reugulator circuit. You can of course, also use quiter fans. I find the Panaflo L series fans have good airflow and are quiet. One thing to try on cpu coolers is a larger slower fan. Usually larger fans can put out the same CFM but at a lower speed mure quietly. I use four 80mm Panaflo L series case fans formed in a 160mm square to cool my radiator and they work great and are almost silent! Silent is my goal, so eventually I want to water cool my video card, chipset, and power supply in addition to my cpu and only use the four Panaflo fans.

Do the silicone trick it works much better then rubber gromets you can find this info in the tips section i believe under heatrsink reviews. Ive done it to mine and it cuts the noise level way down.

If there isn't one, it's the VH Forums. Yikes. I'll never go back there.
