what do your think can be the problem if i cannot even add 0.5v to the default voltage? i'm using AYHJA week 29. any problem with this batch? i've overclock it from 1.4 @ 1.518 at default voltage runing a temp of 55*c. all points of view are most welcome.

Try take out the motherboard and make sure the base of the heatsink and the cpu core has a solid contact by hold up to the light. Bad contact could be possible for such high temp.

i've tried doing that. i'll say that it has contact.......not like i can really see it clearly. but does anybody have any idea why can't i add even 0.5 v extra to my CPU. if i cannot add extra voltage then i will not be able to get my CPU any higher then 1518MHz. please let me know.

shouldn't you get a better HSF? I don't have any experience with the HSF you are currently running... but it might be that it isn't cutting it.

hmmm, u should take a look at the Swiftech MC462 - A HSF. u'll be suprise at it. it's the biggest heatsink around and it has had alot of reviews. i'm not saying that it is the best but i don't think it could be the problem. thanx anyway

Have you tried to change the voltage with jumpers instead of the bios? Also what power supply do you have?

1st of all I would HIGHLY recommend not to overclock with temps as high as yours. ANYTHING over 50c idle is risking burning your CPU up!!

I have to agree with Trancebear, I wouldnt try overclocking your cpu untill you get those temps down.Unless you want to take the risk of frying it.

What are you using to measure your temps? If you're using Asus Probe, its probly reading about 10c higher than the temperature really is. As for the voltage, change it on board w/ the jumpers. Thats what I had to do w/ this board. You should also flash to the latest BIOS, number 1005A, if you havn't already. Good luck

i'm using an Enlight 300W Power supply with 9 connectors. yes, i am using the ASUS Probe but i also have an external digital temp. probe. the probe of course shows a temp. lower then the ASUS probe by about 5-7*C. that should give me about 48*C using the external probe. apart from that i have not yet tried increasing the voltage using jumpers as i'm not too sure of it. it looks kinda risky.

does anybody know how to lower the board temp. i'm getting up to 40*C which i think is also efecting the chip temp. there is a HSF on the board on a chip which i think is the VIA chipset thing. if i would to get a better HSF and put some thermal grees on it....will that lower the temp. of the board? any tip is much appriected

Also, the default voltage for the AMD 1.4GHz is 1.5v right.

thanx for the tips so far. i'll try the jumper thing.

I'm gonna try to hook up another PSU (250W), when I get home from school. That might help, I'll keep ya all updated.

Default is 1.75v
