I heard the gainward 5.1 headphones were great, especially for the price.

I have a set of Bose Triport headphones and they are good. These cans block out most of the outside noise and they do not weigh that much so you can hardly feel them on your head. The Triports feel comfy to the ears also. $150 bones at Magnolia HIFI.

I have some Altec Lansing with mic combo. Works very excellent for games and what little music I listen to. Only set me back $40.

I'd reccomend the Sennheiser HD-650's or the Grado RS-1's.

I'd reccomend the Sennheiser HD-650's or the Grado RS-1's.Oh man, I had the priviledge of listening to a pair of the RS-1's before with their little amp.. WOW..I can remember hearing this Bob Mintzer track from his album Camouflage where all the artists were arranged in a circle around a single omnidirectional michrophone and you could literally hear the 360 degree soundstage. Tonally these headphones were competing with a pair of $5,000 B&W Matrix 801's and some Apogee Stages that we had in the store. Very Impressive indeed to say the least, a bit pricey for a pair of "headphones" (not compared to these speakers) but definitely on top of the list in as far as sound quality. I think in looking at a pair of headphones ultimately it's going to boil down to your budget. Either Sennheiser or Grado are without question some of the finest products available, but whether or not their upper ends are in reach for most is questionable. I do like some of the lower end Sennheisers for an all around performer. If you give a better idea of what you want to spend, I think the people here can give a better suggestion of which headphones will fit yor bill.

Beyerdynamic DT770 80 ohm: you might need a headphone amp, at least a good cmoy, to really get the potential out of these. You haven't specified your budget. If you want under $50, I'd say go with KSC-75/KSC-35 or Koss Portapros. If you want $100 or less and don't want to have to buy an amp, go for Audio Technica A500.

Sony MDR-V6's are great for games. They are closed design and lots of Bass so its great for explosions and what-not during games :D. They are not that expensive either and in my opinion much better than 5.1's .
