I just got a new machine that has 2 200 gb SATA drives on a raid 1 setup, but I have an older slave drive (not sata or raid) with a lot of important files on it that I want to put in my new machine. How do I go about doing this? I tried a few things but couldn't get windows to recognize it. I've never had a raid setup so I'm a little lost.

Thanks.

well for one, i HOPEW you dont keep important info on that Radi 1 array - if so get it ff now before you have a good chanec of failure.

now, this is an IDE drive?
What mobo do you have? you should just be able to plug it into the 2nd IDE channel and off it goes...

if ll else fails go grab a $30 external USB case for harddrives :D

Get important info off my raid 1? I don't have any (it's brand new) but I thought the idea of having raid 1 was a backup in case one of the drives fail...

The drive is IDE. My motherboard is an Asus SK8V K8T800 (http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=110575)

Right now I have the dvd/cd drives on the first IDE channel. I tried plugging a ribbon cable into the second one and the IDE drive on that but windows didn't recognize it. I tried putting the jumper on slave and master (and without one) but nothing happened. I forgot about checking the bios, if I do that what should I look for?

Thanks
