Recently i have had a problem with windows booting. Between the bios screen and the Windows Xp load screen there is about a 10-20sec dead spot. The screen just goes black and nothing happens. Windows still boots up properly but the added time just gets anoying. Any ideas?

Other than the fact that you're running XP, what are your complete system specs?...including any service pack installed.

AMD 64 3200+
Epox 8KDA3J
XFX 6800 GT
2x512 OCZ PC3200
74 gig Raptor
120 gig WD SE

1. Do you have any PCI cards installed, ex. network card, sound card, modem, etc.?
2. Do you have either SP1 or SP2 installed, and if so...was the SP an upgrade, or installed fresh after the OS? Or, was it a slipstreamed install?
3. Is the installed BIOS the latest version available from Epox?
4. How are your HDD's connected?...onboard SATA controller, PCI SATA controller, IDE controller, etc.
5. If the HDD(s) are connected to the onboard SATA controller, are you running the latest non-RAID SATA controller drivers...available from Epox or the controller manufacturer?
6. Are you using the onboard sound or LAN?...if available.
7. Are you running overclocked...and if so, does it pass Prime?
8. What are your memory timings...and does it pass Memtest86+?
9. When did the problem start?
...and anything else you can think of that might help in troubleshooting your startup problem.

Sorry about the delay. Had to go out of town.
1. 10/100 NIC
2. SP2 and it was slipstreamed
3. Newest BIOS updates from EPoX
4.The Raprtor is connected through the onboard sata controller and the storage drive is connected through the IDE controller.
5.The only SATA drivers i used were the ones that came with the mobo cd. dont know if they have newer, but it was working fine with them before.
6.Onboard Sound, but not the onboard LAN, because it wont let anything be recognized by the network.
7.Prime? It is overclocked from 2.2 - 2.4 but it does this even if it is at default.
8. 2-3-2-5. Mentest86+?
9.After i installed a floppy but, it does it now without the floppy and the auto seek in the bios is turned off.
