The pc has been moving around recently between two households. It's probably had a few small bumps and possibly a little wetness just from going outdoors. but this morning i went to power it up and it tries to power on but the fans just jolt once and then the whole thing dies. so no screen or nothing. i unplgged bits so the psu had more flex but to no avail. Also no obvious cables are loose but that wouldn't stop it from booting it up anyway... and i've triple checked the cable from the psu to the mobo.

Plz help this is exactly what i don't need right now :(

check to make sure the cpu is seated correctly

hm, make sure that its not your PSU first of all. mine randonly went a week ago, and i didnt know what the hell it was. i finally cracked open the PSU and a capacitator was cracked or something. i got my new one, and except for one of my memory slots randomly not working on me, everything is fine again. check that, and see what happens. maybe a back up PSU somewhere you could throw in there???

My advice would be to minimal boot it. Disconnect everything from the board, and hook up only the vid card, memory, and cpu, and plug in only the keyboard, mouse, and monitor. If the comp boot, just connect each piece one at a time until it's all back together. It's usually pretty easy to find a faulty piece of hardware that way, and also makes you reconnect all the cables in case one of them got loose.

Also, as said above, checking the seating of the processor is a good idea...

its bolted in, i doubt it could be the culprit

well mine was bolted in as well and it still messed up. it cant hurt to check though. i thought there was no way it could be the power at first, but when i finally opened it up, i felt like a bumbass because thats the first thing my friend here wanted to check :/

make sure your keyboard and mouse arnt crossed, long shot but I always check, sometimes that will do it.

so i resat the heatsink and cpu and now it boots. hmm, how do i prevent that from happening again?

i have to keep moving it around!

Well the obvious answer would be just to be more careful. One thing you might want to do it lay it on its back so that the cpu and HSF are sitting right side up. Even if it gets shaken up, it's less likely to get dislodged.
