Every time I start windows it will always start some realtek RTL8139 thing with

something looking liek this (______/) as a load bar but that last part spins. It

will try to load something and end up not finding it. It will fail a couple times and

then prompt for the system disk to start up. I have to do this every time I start

up my computer and now that I am starting to mess around with knoppix i really

need it to boot using the knoppix cd instead of the other. I tried installing the

newest drivers for the realtek and still no results. Im thinking about just disabling

the connection and puttin in one of my own NIC's.

If that is the onboard Realtek NIC(it's junk), disable it and install a PCI card. (I hate onboard stuff)

you can use msconfig to make it not start up with windows. i use msconfig often, but it's not a good idea to delete any essential services.
