that's a nice deal if you aren't dead set on a platinum edition

This should be able to clock to the platinum easily im sure of it.
The core is only 20mhz which is practicly a deffinent but, 60mhz on the memory. Would anyone think this cant be achived? Maybe with the Rev4 cooler?
Is there anything bad about this card compared to other comapny versions?

$460
yeah normal XT's can be found all over the place. It's the elusive PE that is being sought after. And if I'm not mistaken XT's are just PE's, that couldn't quite reach the performance marks in a stock config...So I'm sure if you got down to some extra cooling you could go at least to PE speeds if not beyond with the XT's

So instead of paying 500 for the xt-pe you basicly spend 460 for the xt and spend 30 extra just to cool it so it can reach xt-pe speeds. About the same price as the xt-pe except with aftermarket cooling.

except that your XT has no warranty anymore.

Or you could buy an XT-PE, and stick the $30 cooler on it to overclock it quite a bit.
The X800 XTs apparantly don't overclock like the X800 XT PEs do - it's most probably a yield thing.
Still, it's not a bad card to get right now at all, considering that PE's can't be bought anywhere for a good price.

It's a much better gamble than the x800 Pro VIVO cards, which were also candidates for XT PE speeds but couldn't cut the grade and were subsequently castrated (less pipelines).

little steep for a price though. i just picked up an x800pro for 340.

no, the difference between the XT and XT PE is the memory that is used. XT PE's use 1.6ns memory, which is in very short supply (maybe it's 1.8ns). Anyway, the regular XT can be equiped with 2ns memory which will do 1000MHz (within spec of the XT), but it will be very hit and miss to reach XT PE speeds of 1120MHz - most seems to do about 1100MHz overclocked though (just going from my 6800GT, which has 2ns Samsung memory.

there was a site that showed the XT oced to the xt-pe speeds and the scores were nearly identical so if the ram was that big of a diffrence then i think it would have shown

Bought an xt pe through bestbuy recently. Can't order them from bestbuy.com, but if you go in to the store and ask for a customer fullfilment order they can order them for you that way. When I went in that had 8 in stock. Got it out to me in less than a week and the price wasn't jacked up like all of the online stores.
Worth a shot to see if they still can order them I think.

Agreed ... and only the Sapphire X800XT has the same RAM as the XT PE!

Why not spend 20 bucks more and buy the xt-pe at compusa? They sell it for retail unless this card isnt the same quality as the others?

There are loads of x800xts for sale over here in the uk, and loads of x800xtpe PCI-express cards too, just NO agp xtpe's, so there are some real good deals around at the moment. Is it not the same in the USA? I always thought you guys got everything first and in bulk?

Are the prices in Canadian??? Man....... it is so ridiculously overprice....
I have a X800 XT (500/500) and it will not clock at PE speeds (520/560) even with Arctic Silencer and RAM sinks. I get about 515/540 artifact free and 100% stable. A good PE will probably O/C 540/600 or so. Matt is correct, the PE version uses better memory (1.6ns vs. 2.0ns).

totally nothing wrong with pickup only. The only problem is that all Compusa store within 50miles radius of where I am staying has no stock. Wrote an email to compusa about availability of this product, and never get a reply.
