I have a PIII 933 being shipped to me and was wondering if it would be possible to oc it by increasing my fsb to 150 and have it stable at 1050mhz, and still use the heatsink and fans that come with it. I have one stick of 256 pc133 ram installed. Any ideas if that would work or not?

Hi MattLN03, wellcome to the Forum,
I suggest you to start monitoring your system temps with MotherBoardMonitor that you found at http://mbm.livewiredev.com/ and if your chip temps are around 40-45 degree C @full load (100% load) you can try rising the Fsb from 133 to 150Mhz, but you need also to set the mem module timing on the more conservative (3-3-3) and probably rise a little also the VCore (Chip voltage) to gain a rock stable OverClock.
Let me know you temps and what kind of mem medules are you using, take a look to the writes on the chips.

I hope it helps you ;)

Maybe is the only answer we could give you, one thing for sure you will need to get rid of the sticky thermal pad that comes with most stock set ups, at the minimum i would get some radio shack thermal comound and apply that. As the above post said it depends on your temps, if your dead set on using the stock one you may have to make a duct that goes from your CPU HSF to your side case cover, when you raise your CV to gain stability it will raise your temps. It would be best if you kept your temps below 40C at full load as when you overclock your CPU will be a little more tempermental about higher temps.

Matt. I run a cDO stepping 933 with an Antec Heatsink off a boxed AMD Duron. The cDO P3's run very cool. I currently have memory holding me back but I believe the chip will boot at 1154MHz.

I run Folding @ Home 24/7 w/ it at 1120MHz w/ single stick of generic PC133 and it usually never exceeds 35c. Something to keep in mind for reference when your chip arrives. Good luck..def follow the advice of the above mentioned posts as well. Monitoring the temp of the chip is crucial when using air cooling.

By no means am i stuck on using stock heatsink and fan... what would you recommend me getting that would keep the cpu cool at 1gig and still be somewhat quiet besides going to waterbased cooling.

A sk6 and a delta 30cfm fan or a ys-tech 26cfm.
