Ok, long story short, i need to recover my windows. I go to the recovery screen with my cd and it asks for an admin pw. I dont know what it could be because ive never entered a password. Ive still tried blank, and all my passwords i use but it wont work. Any ideas?

I'm assuming the OS is XP Home...if this is the case, boot from the XP Home boot disks, which you can make from this MSKB article:

How to obtain Windows XP Setup boot disks

The Recovery Console will accept a blank password after you boot from the floppies. Another possibility would be to copy the spcmdcon.sys file from the temporary diskette based fix to the c:\cmdcons directory, then boot into the Recovery Console.

Its xp professional. I would do the floppy disks but i dont have a floppy drive on my rig. I would recover it while my harddrive is in this computer, but i dont know how that would affect hardware and driver configuation. Any more ideas?

Never mind, i just decided to do a clean install. But now im planning on using an old 3gb hd to keep a backup windows on it. Thanks anyway.
