Arr.. How do I rip a dvd?

I just bought a copy of the fast and the furious on closeout in wal-mart, and I want to rip a copy and store it on my harddrive (seeing as most of the time my cds and dvds get scratched to heck) I tried a bunch of rippers, but they all say 'this dvd is copy protected.' How do I rip this onto my harddrive then?
