I received my maze2 waterblock and it had some funk on the side that was to sit on the cpu. Now I did some very light sanding with 220 grit and water to get rid of the stuff. Is this ok and will it pose any problems? I see small lines and I thought to myself that it would take away from direct contact with the cpu. Is my assumption right, or an I just being anal?

Sand it in a circular fashion with 600grit paper on top of a piece of glass, or similar flat smooth surface.

Do you think some fine cut 3M rubbing compound would do even better then sandpaper? I'm not a fan of using sandpaper now.

Sand it on a flat smooth plane first, then shine her up for too.

I used 3M finishing compound on a couple of my heatsinks, and didn't notice any difference in temps. Looks real pretty though. Just lapping the heatsink with 600 grit should yield good results, I went all the way up to 2500 grit wetsanding, and didn't notice any change past 800 grit.

Ok I will do this tomorrow since my system is down. Bad KG7-Raid mobo. So do I just tape the sand paper to this flat surface and then hold the waterblock to it sanding it with circular motions? Sorry guys I just never done anything like this before and just want to get it right. Thank you for your help.
