poor dsl speed

Hi I have a 120up and a 740 down and the fastes that i download is like 64k ill get bursts of 70+ and i just got a new ethernet card went from a dlink to a netgear don't know if its cause nobody is on this weekend or what but ive been getting 70 average and peaks of 90 but still thats kinda slow and my bandwith is around 700+.. whats the problem in my house or the line outside

that seemed to be my speed also try to go here and get the speed tweak for you OS, i have always bee skepticla about these but now i get less then 20k/sec from my MAX

I think you may be mistaking Bits for Bytes.
8 Bits = 1 Byte
Bandwidth is calculated in Bits, (and Bytes is what's stored on your hard drive)

You say:
120up and a 740 down

So that means:
120KBits/s = 15KBytes/s
740KBits/s = 92.5KBytes/s

What OS are you using? I was getting 70-80K/sec download speeds under Win2K, but after rolling it back to 98SE (Win2K got no game!) I was topping about just above 50k/sec. So your OS has a lot to do with it.

im running 2000 pro right now and i got the same speeds with 98 and ME before and after tweaks on all of them

I got Verizon dsl and netgear NIC and i have maintained 63.2 K down on both Win2k and Win Me...no diff at all. I've had it for 10 months now and all the tweaks to rwin,mtu,etc. have done nothing at all for me...it's been the same d/l speed no matter what i do to it.

Well I have dsl and I get over 100k+ on downloads usually depending on the site of course. Try http://dslreports.com I did my bandwidth tests there and there pretty solid.
