Is there any thing in the win98se registry that could cause lockups and reboots if you overclock your processer.Because im overclocking a amd 1GHZ AXIAR and it seems to being running around about 40c but it locks up when i overclock it. It seems that if i overclock and it gets around 35 c it will just lock up.Im wondering if it could be something in the os causing it to lock up and all? I have a ABit kt7-raid also. Could it be the power supply, its a 300watt no name? I know it couldnt be getting to hot cause it s around 40c when overclocked 350 MHZ.Or could it be the harddrive? Ive change(upped) voltages but to no avail.IM up in arms,im clueless and i dont like that feelling!
Your RAM may be a consideration too, you didnt mention what you have there.

Generic Ram, think those RAM coolers will make a difference?

Nope they wont help, Ebay the memory and get some name brand stuff. :D
I had 512mb generic from Frys in my 1200 and couldnt post at 1400, and windows liked to shutdown or reboot at 1300. Replacing the memory got me to 1400 stable, then I replaced the PSU and HSF fan then got up to 1500.
Crucial, Mushkin or Corsair.
I've bought alot of crucial for myself and others, and I am very happy with their prices, and 2nd day shipping is free.
EDIT: WAIT! I just remembered, my system wasnt even stable at 1200 with the generic memory!
Have you tried upping your voltage using the 2.05Volt resistor trick? The model of CPU you are using is very power-hungry, and you should give it more juice if you want a stable overclock. Of course, don't forget to use a powerful heatsink with Arctic Silver II, and try conservative BIOS settings before making your conclusions.

Depends on how you're overclocking. If you're going with some FSB increasing that's most likely your problem...the kt133 chipset is notorious for being really bad about FSB overclocking.
If you're just using the multiplier than it's most likely just that your chip isn't a good overclocker...or your temps are just wildly inaccurate. It's definately not a Windows problem, though.
I stand by the remark of the wise and experienced Thelemac. KT133 isn't that great in it's FSB overclocking potential. Yet i have a couple of tricks up my sleeve to push it further: try higher I/O voltage and try replacing the North Bridge's thermal paste with the same silver stuff.
Yet CPU locking up isn't gonna be magically cured by lower FSBs, if core spped stays the same. Try figuring out the core's potential by using stock FSB (100/133), and then find your fastest stable FSB setting. Third, combine the two for a major kick in speed. I am not saying anything new.

Lockups? Reboots?
This is Windows 98 we're talking about. It does it on un-oc'd computers as well......
