Ohh......this stinks. I was just talking with the mod over at IntelZone, and it seems that folks are only expecting to get 10-20% oc's on Tualatin and P4's. Could somebody please tell me this ain't true! If things are looking that bleak, I'll have to try a walk on the Darkside. I just can't do without my hardcore OC'ing. :(

The 1.33 tulatins get between 1.4 and 1.5ghz
and the 1.26 gets 1.48-1.5ghz.

So yes between 10-20%.

You need to remember its all fsb overclocking not a combination of fsb and multiplier or just multiplier like amd.

A 1ghz overclocked ro 1.2ghz is 20% and is what I get from my p3.
My amd 1.4ghz gets to about 1.6ghz so its not a big difference.

Cyrix?? I said the darkside, not the backside :)
Yeah I know it's via FSB, but the concensus seems to be that this will hold true even when they come out with the Cel-T's on the 100 FSB. Shouldn't a Cellie 3 be able to be pushed to say 150 FSB? Thus, a 100 FSB 1.2 Ghz Cel 3 would be running 1.8 Ghz. Does this not seem feasable ??

i think the tulatin processors wont go much higher since they are stuck in the same ballpark as current athlons. its end of the road technology which isnt ment to go much faster.

now intel could release a gimp version of the p4 and call it a celeron which would probably be a better overclocker. the p4 has alot more headroom since its newer technology.

The actual core of that chip is incapable of running that high under even extreme cooling conditions. They're good, but not that good.

Not only all that, the high multipliers are also getting in the way as always...

ahh no i dont think this is the problem. i think the core just cant go beyond a certain limit. the only thing you might want to change multipliers for is if you have pc180 ram and you want a higher memory speed.
